Help, not sure whats wrong

I just recently joined the forum and got my first Toyota, a 1998 4runner Limited with elocker. A couple of days ago it started missing and was showing codes for missing on #1 & #2. I changed all the plugs the miss went away and no codes. Yesterday while at work someone stole the catalytic converter off of it, I fixed it with a straight pipe till I can get to a muffler shop, its still missing but shows no codes. Has 245xxx miles has new radiator,belts,water pump and hoses. Any ideas what the miss could be?

I'm not a super-expert, but the first question is: What did the deposits and wear on the old plugs look like?

Looked like normal wear on them

It starts missing after it warms up, could it be a bad injector or maybe the fuel pump

Compression check is a good tool

Pull the plugs again and do a compression test. If plugs still look good and compression #'s are good, try running some fuel system cleaner and change the filter. But if its happening after it heats up, I'd suspect an injector issue.

What plugs did you use? Did you do wires as well? Have you tried seafoaming it?... I'd do that while the cat is out...

Coils typically don't go bad often, and I don't think 1, and 2 are on the same coil, and it would be odd that two coils go at the same time but only half of the system... -for reference, I have 267k+ miles on the original coils. Not saying they don't or can't go bad, just unlikely in this situation

Coil packs and wires are new, the more I look into this the more I think its an injector.

If it misses only after warm up it could be O2 sensor. It only functions after it goes into closed loop(warmed up). Injectors would like cause the miss right away.

I had drive it home with out the cat so the second O2 sensor wasn't going to read properly, wonder if driving it like that could have hurt one of the O2 sensors.

yes, that can hurt the o2 sensor after the cat. and again i ask what plugs wires and coils did you use?

The coils and plug wires where changed by the dealer, the plus I used where what I could afford at the time, single ground NGK's
