Hey guys,
The lease on my 550i is almost up and i REALLY need a truck for my activities.

Anyway, the way i want the 4runner built...they pretty much dont come that way. So im special ordering one and waiting my ~90 days. Today i came across something that needs to be explained! I hope you can help.


From everything ive read by lurking around here, the leather is NOT available on the 08 4runner Sport Edition. How come ive found several 07s Sport with leather on autotrader? Did they discontinue leather on the sport in 08?

I cant even special order leather, its not available on the sport at all!

Please help!

It would either be port install or aftermarket leather.

No, leather wasn't discontinued. From the factory, leather is only available on the Limited. Cloth is only available on SR5 and Sport Edition. Toyota doesn't give you a choice of cloth or leather on the different trims, SR5 and Limited can choose interior colors though.

Port installed leather would likely be from Classic Soft Trim (CST) or Liquid Cell. You can also get a leather kit from eBay and install it yourself or by an upholstry shop. Katzkin also has leather kits. A dealer near me had a '06 Sport Edition with Coach leather installed, $4500 mark up.

FYI, members here who have CST kits report the leather is equal or nicer and softer than Limited leather.
