Help: Repacking CV joints

I want to slide my inner boots down the shaft so I can clean out the old grease and repack them with new grease. Can i just spray the hell out of the joints with brake cleaner to clean the grease out? Whats the best way to get the grease out? I don't think it matters but I have a 03 SR5 V8 AWD

Any reason for this? personally if you really feel the need or have to because dirt or water somehow got in and contaminated the grease i wouldn't use any cleaner that will completely remove all the grease. I would just scrape the big chunks off if its that bad and re-grease them. Aren't guys having good luck with just removing the small clamp, getting a needle fitting for the grease gun and squirting a bit in to the boot that way? Then re-installing a small clamp?

I honestly feel your asking for trouble trying to do what you are suggesting. i wouldn't be a bit surprised if the joints failed shortly after. But then again its just my e-pinion.

Just get new axles, they are only gonna get worse. If you must, just find the hole where it's leaking and grease through there.

No need for new axles. My $20 repair has held up for 3 years now with no play in the CV indicating any damage.

Not sure why brake cleaner (or WD-40, etc...) wouldn't work. An absolutely clean, bare metal, joint isn't necessary but that is what you would get anyway if you did a bench rebuild. It will be a mess either way if you find a milkshake. If no milkshake then it's easier, just refill with new grease.

i just did the cv's on my third gen. not a difficult job at all. New CV's only cost me 208 dollars in total. just go for the new ones.
