hi.have a rubbing noise at street to highway speeds,wheels front and back turn freely so shouldn't be brakes. How about wheel bearings?

Could be. Jack the truck up and grab the tire and try to wiggle it back and forth. If there is any slop/play in it your wheel bearing is bad. It will only be a small amount. You may hear a clicking each time you shake the wheel. If you do, wheel bearing is bad. I would start there since it's the easiest. Always. Like the old add age goes, if a truck doesn't run, always check to make sure it has fuel in it before you do anything else.

I don't think I would call the sound a bad wheel bearing makes a "rubbing noise." One might also expect the sound to increase and decrease while turning based on the weight transfer of the vehicle. Are there any other details about the sound you can provide like the sound itself, when it happens and doesn't happen, is it speed dependent or change in intensity? Is it coming from one wheel and have you tried 4WD?
