Dry Fuel Return line.....
Here is an update to my project.
Fuel pump was operating intermetiently so I got a electrial, exterior mounted fuel pump. It works but ( I have gas to the rails ) I do not kow what the pressure is, however I am not getting any return fuel.
The engine cranks but does not start. I have spark.
If i pour some gas in the carb it starts up and runs for a few seconds.
Do I need to replace the Fuel Pressure regulator?
I disconnected the line, turned the engie over and nothing come out....
Is the pressure not strong enough?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

1992 4runner, 3.0 V6, 4x4, about 160K miles
Background story....
I recently acquired a '92 4Runner from a teenage boy who beat it to death. In October the car was on the highway and stopped running, once it started again it would not go into gear, so it sat until 2 weeks ago. I made the kid an offer $300 and he took it. I got the car started and it shifted into drive and moved it a few feet. I didn't want to press my luck so shut it off and returned a few days later to pick it up and it didn't start. I got it home I found a few things:
1) Fuel pump powered by relay bypassing the factory wire harness. When the key was turned on, it turned on the pump...it is loud. So i dropped the tank, discovered a few kinks in the line, tested the factory wires and I got a low voltage. was able to hook up the fuel tank and it pumped out fuel. So I removed the relay and used the factory wiring.
Problem: There is voltage going to the fuel pump but not enough to make it pump. If I apply a 12V supply to it, it turns on and the car starts.
2) The radiator was empty. I got the car started and started to fill the radiator with water and water just started pouring out of the front of the engine. It was everywhere, it was difficult to see if it was coming from the water pump or someplace else.
Problem: Coolant leak, possibly not from water pump or radiator.
This is all I have for now....I'm sure once I get it running OK there might be some drive train issues.
