Help spend my money... Vendors welcome!

Hey all, I just got a 2005 T4R yesterday. I have been reading up on the forum a lot lately and finally decided to join in.

Anyways, I am in need of suspension recommendations and input.

I want to lift it 2 to 3 inches (no spacers), but I don't want to buy a kit that in turn opens up a can of worms that I continually throw money at. With the age and mileage, I know that I should do the UCA's at the time of install and need to factor those in with my budget. What else should I factor in? Sway bay relocates? Brake lines? Diff drop?

I am coming from a 4 door Jeep Wrangler, so I have my homework cut out for me. Is there any driveshaft issues at different heights? CV axles?

Any way of being "all in" with a simple / reliable / good road comfort 2 - 3 inch lift at the $1500 mark? Recommendations on parts / vendors?

Thanks all!

a lot of people start with 5100's for a cheaper lift. you can add fj, tacoma coils as well for more lift and they are sometimes free used on forums or local groups. at the 2.5+ lift in front you need aftermarket UCA to get alignment back in spec

Welcome to the addiction. I'd suggest reading the suspension sticky, and look at all the lift/tire combos in the lift and tire sticky. I spent hours looking at builds before I decided on the 5100s w/ 885s in front and superflex in the rear.

Totally possible for less than $1000 if you do the work yourself and kick me the remaining $500. Check out wheelers off road. They're great to deal with.

Thanks for the input guys.

I am really leaning towards the Toytec basic 3" coilover kit (the $900 one), and getting the Light Racing UCA's, some sway bar relocates, and also the front and rear sway bar / end link bushing kits.

That puts me right around the $1500 mark shipped.

What are your thoughts? Anything else I should be considering doing?

The Toytec lift is a good solution. I went with the Ultimate Kit, if the Basic is similar, it comes with sway bar relocates, diff drop and bump stop extenders. I believe that you can get by without brake lines (I did) but I guess that depends on their condition. Don't forget about the drivers side lean, you may need some spacers on the left side rear coil to correct that. I got a 1/2" OME spacer from Toytec and should have gotten two.

That's a great reminder... I forgot about the bump stop extenders.

The basic kit does not come with the sway bar relocates or the bump stop extenders.... but it is $370 cheaper than the Ultimate, so it's understandable.

I will also add a couple of spacers for the "lean".... I didn't realize that was an issue.

Thanks!

King 2.5" coil overs w/ Resi & adjusters or Fox 2.5" coil overs with Resi & adjusters, OME 895 rear springs. Camburg, total Choas, Dirtking or other Uni-Ball UCA. Skip the LR/SPC crap UCA's.

I ran Fox Resi Adjustables on my 4Runner and they handled everything I threw at it.

Thank you for the input... I wasn't sure when those would be needed :thumb3:

No problem, just throwing it out there for something to consider. smokey73 is correct, you can get by without them, many have. Not bad insurance though if you plan on going off-road in the future. Some have commented that they like the pedal feel better with them, side benefit. Looking forward to seeing your build!
