Help!!! Stumped by crazy noise

ok All you Toyota guys... Man do i have a crazy noise that i cannot figure out...
The rig: 98 T4R 3.4l Manual 4" Toytec lift on 33's
Let me start by telling you about the symptoms of my rubbery squeal
Makes the noise when:
Driving under 10 MPH
Making sure clutch is engaged, noise goes away when you push in the clutch.
Turning left or right under 10 MPH
Noise goes away above 15 MPH
Pulling the E-Brake one click to all the way to fully engaged.
In ALL gears 1st-5th
In Reverse
In Reverse turning left and right...

Ok and this is what I've done...
Pulled both wheels, checked shoes and drums
Installed new pinion seal
greased ALL drive lines
Disconnected rear drive line and one wheel on the ground and slowly spinning the wheel still makes the noise
Jacked up each side separately and it makes the noise while turning the tire that is in the air (open diff)
Bearings are clean, spin freely and are not marred or discolored
Diff Fluid is clean, but brunt smelling, use Redline 75-90W Syn
Overfilled Diff, noise is still there....
I've marked the tire and I have 4:10's and the noise is about 4 times per revolution of the wheel so I know its something in the drive not wheel bearings, but I've checked those anyways.
I Checked the Rear Output bearing in the Transfer Case it spins freely
Maybe someone might have a suggestion that I haven't tried....

I'm 100% open to any Suggestions... It's my only vehicle and I'm currently riding the bus and walking to College... AND IT SUCKS!!

Wow! That would drive me insane! Is the sound coming from the front of the 3rd member? It looks like that metal lip (going over the nose of the 3rd member) is slightly bent. It doesn't sound like a gear issue or anything too serious, but more like two surfaces rubbing.
 
Ya its driving me nuts, I'm smelling gear oil after driving a few minutes... So I'm trying to not drive it. It sounds like its coming directly from the pinion. But remove the flange and rotate the tires and the noise is gone. I tq'd the Nut to Factory Toyota 145FT-LBS thinking it might of been loose. I checked the flange on the Yoke too... It looks unbent and straight. I might try to replace it with a drilled new flange but not sure that it will fix it.

Have you tried it with the driveshaft removed? I'd be curious to see if the noise changes without it.
 
So... no noise with the flange off? Any wear marks visible? Something has to be rubbing on that flange.
 
Just watched the video 3 more times... it's driving me nuts! I can only imagine how you feel!

I'm wondering if that metal cap (dust cover) right on the nose is getting tweaked when you have everything torqued down.
 
Maybe try to spray a lubricant (like silicone) under that cover while you have the squeak and see if that changes anything.
 
I know Its driving me nuts too!! i tried some Wd-40 on it, bent the flange out a bit with vise grips and it didn't change it. No wear marks on the 3rd or the flange. But I'm wondering if when the pinion flange is bolted on it thrusts the oil slinger into the bearing surface and causes a squeal. But you'd think since both of those surfaces see gear oil there would be no noise?? But hell I'll try anything before throwing money at it. I was going to in the morning before i pull the shafts i will pull the drive line out and spray paint the bottom edge of the flange and see if any paint gets worn off. Well... good luck! I'm going to ask a buddy of mine if he has ever heard anything like that. He's a long-time Toyota truck tinkerer!
 
Just wondering if you replaced the crush sleeve and reset the preload on your pinon when you did the seal? It could be gear issues, carrier bearings, or pinon bearings. There is a lot of info on differential set up available and it should help explain checking backlash, preload etc. Might be time to pull the axles, pull the diff and check it out. If you did not reset the preload on your pinion you might as well pull the diff and get it checked out and replace the crush sleeve and get your preload set.
 
Well after a good 8 hours of tinkering the sound is gone. I removed the 3rd and completely disassembled it. Took the Pinion apart and inspected all the bearings. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Reassembled and torqued the Pinion nut to 100ft-lbs instead of the factory 145ft-lbs. Replaced a bad U joint at the rear end. (BUT the noise WAS present with the driveshaft removed. So I am lost.) The noise is gone now along with some vibrations that I never thought much of. Not sure how I fixed it or what the problem was but I am going to drive it untill the problem rears its ugly head again.

Well FWIW my bad U-joint sounded just like that. I know you say it made the noise without the d-shaft in, but maybe it was just a figment of your imagination. These sounds can make us go crazy :lalala:
