Help with 02 4runner

hey first of all i'm new here and this is my first post so forgive me
I have an 02 4runner and a little while back it threw a rod through the block and its been sitting in my driveway for a while collecting dust.
It was going to be my first car as i am getting my license very soon, but this happened.
Is it worth it to get a remanufactured engine??
Or should i just forget the truck and buy something else.
oh and it only has 75000 on it....

Threw a rod at 75k? Wow.:jaw drop: Normally these engines don't do that. Especially at 75k. You can get a used motor off ebay for $1400ish. A reman will cost significatly more. The thing about asking us is...well we are going to be bias because 99% of us here love our 4Runners. But it also only have 75k on it. Which is pretty dang good for that year. A lot of people here are running 200k or more on their 'Runners and some even near 400k... If I was in your position I would get a used engine.

On the flip side. If you do get another vehicle instead...Make it a 4Runner.

what do reman's usually cost? because i dont know if i want to risk buying an engine off ebay...

Yeah...it's an ebay engine but it is reman with a warranty...3yr unlimited mile. That's a long block too. Short blocks will be cheap but you also won't get the alternator, ac comp, powersteering, ect. A short block would also require more work. (Swapping parts over...ect)

Where do you live? I know a place that will rebuild your engine for $1400 + tax (includes R&R) w/ a 3yr/36K warranty.

Yeah i figured my engine is done, which i why im wondering what it should cost if i bought a rebuilt engine and had that installed

Oh yeah.. right.. I wasn't paying enough attention, your block is history. A reman, new, or a donor are you only options. You could get a short block and probably re-use your heads though.
