my back window wont roll down :(. I can hear the control unit when i press the switch to roll up the window, but nothing when I press the switch to roll it down. Has this happened to anyone else? What should I check for?

thanks,

check other switch locations?

are you using just the dash mounted switch to determine this?

Is it doing the same thing if you use your key to make it go up or down at the rear liftgate? Do you also have the remote switch on your key fob with the rear window roll down? Could that switch be "stuck" down accidently?

If it has the same symptoms from both locations then you have narrowed down the problem to something within the liftgate-perhaps a relay or a physical, mechanical failure. The window rides in a track-mine did break in a 2nd gen Runner.

Let us know what you are finding out....

Ok so it's not working with either switch (and I dont beleive i have the switch on my remote). I took apart the dash switch and it is fine, and all of the wiring to the switch has proper voltage. I took the rear panel off, but honestly I dont know where to start. does anyone happen to have a diagram for back there or maybe a labelled pic? if not, if i take a pic can someone label it?

thanks,
-Berty

go for a Field Service Manual (FSM)

no I don't have one of these-but I think I have seen links to them either here or on YotaTech or Ih8MUD forums.

So do you have good voltage at the motor inside the liftgate, nothing appears broken with the track or controlling arms?

At least it is stuck up as opposed to down and raining... one good thing I guess.

OK so I found and fixed the problem. It doesn't really make sense to me...everything for the rear window assembly is perfectly fine. The fuse for my fog lights (which i think are dealer installed) was blown because the lenses were leaking (I fixed them and they're very bright with my little mod hehe). Anyway I hadnt bothered to replace the fuse because I hadnt fixed the lenses yet and now today after replacing the foglights and the blown fuse my window works again. I'm not sure why this is because the rear window is fused on the same 30amp relay as all of the window.

oh well at least everythings working now :)

thanks for the help

just the fuse cool

that's cool DTM --thanks for letting us all know what it was so we can recognize the symptoms when it happens to us.

glad to hear it was nothing mechanical.
