Help with bulb blowing out

My license plate bulb keeps blowing out immediately soon as you turn on the light switch. I have a little under battery source to the power wire/green wire and it also has continuity to ground but the fuse doesn't blow. I believe the tail lights and license plate light share the same power wire and fuse but the tail lights are fine. Can someone help me out.

Have you tried cleaning out the contacts in the light socket?

When I started to diagnose it I had continuity between the 2 terminals inside of the light socket. I then disconnected the license plate light harness from behind the trunk to eliminated it as the cause. I rechecked the terminals on the light socket for continuity and there were no longer continuity between the two. So therefore the problem is somewhere in the car.

You sure you used a bulb with proper voltage rating? You sure your alternator is not putting out too much voltage? Alt output should range approx. between 13.5 and 15.1 Volts

You measured resistance between terminals inside socket with tail lights on? That could damage your multi-meter that way.

i'm using the correct bulbs. output is a little over 14v. i check the resistance with the power off and with the load isolated.
