Help with emissions problem

I have a 2000 toyota 4runner that I bought new in Calif. It has the V6 engine. The engine check light has been on for along time. I finally had it checked in Idaho. Oh by the way I live in Wyoming now. The dealership did a detail exam and this is what they found. I have 175,000 miles on it.

Mass Airflow sensor
catalytic converter
Bank 1 sensor/air fuel
Bank1 sensor/O2 sensor


Now that I live in Wyoming what can I use for the Catalytic conv. They want $1120.00 for a new one at the dealer. I read somewhere you could use a Tundra 2000 with the same engine, is this true? Wyoming does not do smog checks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes and then have the ECU code pulled right after the Check Engine light comes on.

Running for a "long time" with a check engine light opens up a can of worms.

Is the CEL flashing?

Since you owned her since new, do you know how old the front A/F and rear o2 sensors are? If they have more than 60K, I'd start by changing those, plus clean MAF and TB, then see where you're at. No point in swapping cats at this stage, although dealers probably pull a lot of good $1000 cats, just because they can.

Different part numbers according to Rockauto.

But I would also start with the A/F sensor, with that many miles.

you can get a universal converter put on for around $240. why get one from the dealership when it's going to cost 3x the price

I'm pretty sure it was here, someone had a lingering P0420 code that a universal cat didn't fix, it only went away after ponying up for the OEM cat.

The better thing to do would still be to fix the outlining problem before raw fuel burns up your cat.
