Help with installing VIPER alarm.

So I recieved my VIPER alarm today. I never installed a alarm my self. And I want to do it and save money by doing it my self. Could someone post a wiring diagram for 97 4runner ?

I'm not installing a remote start !

And I would like to make the alarm sound work through the horn. I do not want to install that ugly speaker looking thing.

Also do I need to keep the factory alarm installed ? Seems like the factory alarm is wired to pcm.

Yes, you will have to remove the factory alarm. I believe it is located under the driver's seat. That being said, you can also access most of the wires under the seat as well. If you go this route, it is a must you have a test light and multi-meter. Another option it to access the wires under the steering column via the diagram i pasted above since it is color coded. If you want to hook up the alarm via your factory horn, your Viper will have a negative output for that. Take your time and test the wires...oh yeah, Google is your best friend.

I did find this exact link you shared. I just didn't know if it was for a specific alarm or in general for any alarm. What would you recommend, tapping into the wires by ignition or the ones under the seat. Under the pillar. I'd like to hide as much of it as possible. Just picked up a multi meter, Klein :)

Glancing back and forth at the manual and the wiring diagram. I'm confused. I have a relay on the harness that plugs into the VIPER brains. And it has a black and green wire running of it. Doesn't say what it's for, also have some sort of bllue and green wire that it doesn't say what it's for. Not so simple. Would appreciate someone's knowledge.

I would just use the wires under the dask since you have the color code as reference. I will make for a simpler install.

I believe the relay is for the starter kill and the blue and green wires is for the door locks.

Idk, it's confusing. Because the manual doesn't say anything about those wires about the door lock.

You said I will have to remove my factory alarm. But without plugged in the car won't start.....so

do you really want some one to hold your hand and tell you to connect the white wire coming off the ignition harness to the red wire from the 3305v

then connect the black with yellow at the ignition harness to the yellow from the 3305v?

should call that guy that sold you the system on ebay or amazon.

i already gave you 2 out of the 8 connections you need to make

12v constant
ignition
starter kill
door lock
door unlock
DOOR TRIGGER BLACK/WHITE (-) IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL, HARNESS TO REAR OF VEHICLE to blue
PARKING LIGHTS ( + ) GREEN (+) IN WHITE PLUG, FRONT OF FUSEBOX to white
horn

come on you can figure out the rest right? i got you already 1/2 way there

Thanks, just quick question about the factory alarm. If I disconnect the factory alarm the car won't start. Just curious how I go about this once the VIPER is installed.

So I'm Little lost. I found most wires. Except few. On the VIPER alarm it is saying. CHANNEL 2 OUTPUT : connect to vechile negative trunk releat relay or other low current device. To my knowledge there's no trunk release output on 97.

And on VIPER alarm it's saying channel 3 output : connect to an auxiliary relay or low current device.

Wtf is low current device in a vechile ?

For door trigger it's asking for + and - , and on the wiring diagram for the 4runner they only give you - I'm guessing to make it work properly I need to find a + to ?

Also for siren output: connect to the + wire on the siren or horn. The wiring diagram for the 4runner is only giving you a - horn wire. Will this work ?

And seriously, what do you do with the factory alarm ? It's wired into the PCM. If you disconnect it the car won't start. So how does that work?

Anyone ? Bump

If I just disconnect the factory alarm the truck won't start. So how do you disable the factory alarm... I tried the viper alarm and I get NOTHING

Ok guys so I didn't connect output 2 or output 3 to anything. Is I think it's for add on accessories.

Now for the door trigger. Do I need to find the positive or only connect the negative. Because there are 2 wires from VIPER alarm. One is positive and one is negative for door trigger.

And another question about the horn. I found the horn wire under the dash. But the horn wire in the 4runner is a negative. But VIPER instructions are telling me to connect it to the positive horn wire.

And about the factory alarm. Seriously if you disconnect my car won't start. So I don't understand how this work. ???

So there unlock and lock work. However the horn doesn't beep, and if I disconnect my factory alarm that's under the seat. The car won't start at all. Any ideas ??

So what's up with the + door trigger? I've got the - hooked up, what toyota wire did you use to connect the alarm positive wire?

Are you talking about:

When the viper alarm is turned on. And if you open he door it is triggered ?

Can you take few photos of your install. Would help me understand and compare my wires. It's been a while since my install.

Did you figure out these two wires
The small door lock and door unlock wire
I’m reading it’s a red and yellow wire and red and white
The red and yellow works for unlock
And the red and white doesn’t look like it’s working for lock
