Help with Options on '06 Limited T4R...

Ok I'm starting the process of getting a '06 T4R Limited for my wife.
The Limited we are looking for got to have Navigation, V8, 3rd row seat and must be black or Shadow Mica with stone interior.
According to the Toyota website this options are possible, but the sales guy and the sales manager insisted that I can't have the 3rd row seat with the NAV and V8, they stated that I can't get this options in the north east, I'm in northern NJ.

If you don't mind I have a few questions for you guys.
1. Is that true about the 3rd row seat not being available with NAV and V8 in my area?
2. Do you recommend a particular dealer in northern NJ?
3. What do you think I should pay for a limited with all options; of course it must be a V8, NAV and 3rd row seat.
The price on carsdirect.com I'm getting is 39,565
4. Have anybody here have any experience with buying a vehicle thru carsdirect.com?
5. How much do you think I should be paying on a lease based on that price from carsdirect.com, with a $5K down to cover all initial fees and what's left as a down?
6. Is there any lease or financing specials currently going on right now that I don't know of from Toyota?

I'm kind of new to this forum and so far it's been a great experience. I've been reading a lot in here and will continue to do so, still doing lots of homework here on the '06 Limited, so far I've seen lots of useful info.

It's true that option combinations vary by region. Toyota makes a few different combos for each vehicle for each region. Anything can be special-ordered from the factory, but you'll only find certain things "in stock". The "Build Your Toyota" configuration tool on toyota.com will give you an idea of which combos are currently being shipped to your area.

I don't have any experience with carsdirect, but I can tell you what you should pay. Use either Edmunds or KBB to find out what invoice price is for the new truck you want. (Both sites have the same new car data.) You should be able to buy it near that invoice price *before* any incentives or rebates. (Since 07 is out, you might be able to get below that invoice price!) If you were to take a cash rebate, that would come off after you get down to this price.

As for the lease, don't shop for a certain payment. A lease involves three main numbers - the "capitalized cost", or what you're paying for the new truck; the "money factor", which is lease-speak for finance rate, and the "residual value", or the value of the truck at the end of the lease.

You've negotiated the cap cost as the purchase price - now negotiate the other two. Money factor is APR divided by 24; the 24 is arbitrary, and has nothing to do with the length of the lease. For example, 1.9% APR comes out to a money factor of .0008. The residual value is a percentage of the MSRP which represents the value of the truck at the end of the lease. A lot of people think lower value is better, because then it will be a "deal" to buy the truck out at the end of the lease. But the higher you can get the residual value, the lower your lease payment will be. It's the dealer's problem if the truck is worth less than the residual value at the end - you don't own it! If you think you might seriously want to buy it out later, then I'd suggest buying it right now while interest rates are still really low.

Lexus uses 59% as the standard residual value on 36 months - does anybody know what's typical for Toyota right now? But look at used car values to see how good that number is. I'd say that Lexus number is at least 5% too low, and could be negotiated upward.

And yes, everybody has low financing or lease specials on '06 right now.

You cannot order an '06 now with the options you want. You would have to order an '07 and forfeit some of the incentives to get the vehicle exactly as you want it. My recommendation would be to shop around different regions (Southeast, Northeast, Midwest, etc) and see if the truck you want exists. If it does, you may be able to negotiate a deal with your dealer and the other dealer to ship the vehicle out to you. If not, you may have to find an '06 Limited with the 3rd row and V8 and then add the Nav system to it for some extra $$.

Negotiating at the end of the month is better as they have to make certain quotas to start ordering the '07's, but like Toto said, you should be able to get invoice price before incentives.

I recommend getting the package from http://fightingchance.com. The package I got from them detailed all the weirdness with dealing with Toyota East of the Mississippi, and how to get the best deals.

Note that the previous post is correct, Toyota's pretty hard line on making pre-made packages for each region.

You can special order anything you want technically, but you'll have to find a dealer willing to do that for you. They generally don't want to since it costs them a inventory 'slot' until your order is fullfilled (a slot they could be selling while you wait 3-6 months for your special order).

In going through Toyota's website, you can view dealers inventory and expected deliveries. I have searched a dozen in ME,NH,MA.

I can't seem to find anyone who has a 6 cy 4x4 LTD with X-Reas. Some of the V8's have it but also have the Nav which I do not want.

Since it will be January before I pull the trigger, guess I will need to order a '07 the way I want.

I find it strange with the small number of options on the LTD, one would think it would not be hard to find.

It wouldn't be hard to find if the regional distributor actually orders different option combinations. I can't speak about your region, but in my region, pretty much you have a choice of trim, engine and color. The only 2WD is a V6 SR5 here. Sport Edition and Limited are all 4WD, as well as any 4Runner with a V8. I've yet to see nav on anything other than a V8 Limited 4WD on dealer lots.

If you can find a dealer willing to do it, ordering will be your best option. Since you're in the North East, placing an order now will put you in that approximate time frame when you're ready to purchase. I ordered mine and got it in about three months.

I want to thank you all for all the advice you guys are giving me. I have been really busy with work, and haven't had much time lately to be on top of this, hopefully this week I'll be back on the hunt for the one I want with the options I want and the color I want, even if I have to order the '07, but if I can do it with the '06 to save a few $$ then '06. Since it's going to be my wife's, she doesn't mind waiting a little longer to get it with this options and color she wants.
