Help with part # of wheel cap...dealer is confused.

I have a 2005 Sport Edition with 17" wheels. I lost a wheel cap and the dealership can't verify which one I need even when I gave them the VIN, and brought in an existing cap. I'm attaching a picture of my trucks wheel, and a copy of the pictures from which toyota says are possibilites of a match.

If I had to take a guess, it would be #4.

#1 is for the 16" steel wheels on the pre-April 2003 SR5 models.

#2 is for the 16" alloy wheels on SR5 models

#3 looks like the cap for the 17" 5-spoke wheels, but I'm not 100% sure.

That's weird!!

Parts Department shouldn't need the VIN on the 4Runner. Because since 2003-now, the wheels has never changed on the Sport Edition nor was there an Option of a different rim.

I'm not sure either...but let me include some pictures to help you further figure it out.

Since they are the dealer AND if you were in for service, they would have no problem recommending additional services that you would not need, I would have them order all four. When they arrive, I would ONLY pay for the correct one. This way that dealer can make a note as to which one is for the Sport Edition as they are absolutely useless when you've done everything possible to help them out.

That could work except I dont have them touch my vehicle....EVER.

If they're collectively too incompetent to get the correct wheel cap on the first try they aren't touching my vehicle.

I've already got into it with them. They tried to tell me that the parking brake is only adjusted under warranty once free or if you pay for a brake service. I was like really? The vehicle had the parking brake adjusted at 15k, then at 20k it needed it again. Id say there's a problem somewhere! I told the guy "so you're going to sell me a $200 brake service to have you adjust the parking brake?" Nice try, the parking brake isn't a true wear item you idiot...its a parking brake and only used for parking. I don't need new pads. I need to have the slack taken out of the stretched cable. Stealership at its finest.

Anyone work at a dealership that can confirm the correct cap. Even a list of the part #s of the 4. If I remember correctly the Sport Edition wheel cap had a unique part #. Something like no letters in the last part, where as the other 3 contain letters or something like that. Yes i replaced it once before and lost the darn package. :bash:

Sorry, I was hypothetically speaking, not saying you're letting them service your 4Runner.

Service writers love recommending additional BS even it's for warranty work. They try to sell me on fuel injector cleaning and motor oil additive (some Slick50 equivalent snake oil), when I had them replace my faulty AC clutch relay on my Camry.

I meant they should be helping you out on "their" dime, not yours.
