Help with Power

Hello All,

I'm having my first aftermarket system installed and need advice about what I should do from a power perspective. Here's I'm putting in:

Pioneer 880PRS
Front Speakers - Focal Polyglass 165V2
Rear Speakers - Focal Access 130 CA1
Sub - Boston G210

Amp - Audison SRx3 for fronts (2x65W, 4ohm) and sub (1x340W 2ohm)

Rear speakers powered by 880PRS

Do I need a capacitor added? Do I need to upgrade the alternator? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the forums..

what generation 4Runner do you own?

Secondly..you look like your all set for power (as far as amps go)..

and you seem to have gotten some good equipment, your imaging should be good as well..

I would suggest picking up a 4GA amp kit..and the capacitor may or may not be needed..the system will only draw 470w rms) and your stock alternator should handle that no problem..

If you notice light dimming, then go and add a capacitor, but you will prob be fine without one..

Thanks for the reply! I guess I forgot some important info and I probably worded my situation poorly.

I have a 2002 2WD Sport Edition 4Runner.

From an amp perspective I am set. My questions were around the alternator/capacitor topics. As I've been trying to learn about car audio, I've gotten confused about whether or not I need a capacitor and whether or not the alternator needs to be beefed up. I haven't been able to find anywhere where the stock alternator is rated at and how much extra current is available. Any words of wisdom and education on these topics would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to be better safe then sorry..your system will be drawing a decent amount of power..you can pick up a 2FARAD (or close to it) and that will be enough..the general rule of thumb is 1FARAD per 1000W of audio equipment..but some also say if you dont have enough, its more harmfull..

I would play it safe, and get a capactor...the alternator..leave it..its fine..unless yours is old and worn..but a 2002's alt should be fine..
