Help with Sunroof & Lurch@stop

I have '06 V6 T4R Sport Edition currently with 149k miles.

1. My Sunroof works but when I release the switch it stops. Usually when I would hit the tilt button it would tilt and stop. When opening I would hit the open button and it would slide back all the way. When using the open or close buttons it opens and closes but doesn't go to its positions and stops where you release the button. I'm worried about water getting into the roof because of it being just a little off.

Need help with this how to figure whats wrong and also lube and maintenance for this.

2. I have always noticed since I bought the vehicle at times when stopping and once coming to a complete stop that the 4runner will lurch forward. It doesn't happen often but enough that my wife mentions this to me. Any insight on this?

There is a procedure to reset the automatic open and close of the sunroof. You should search for that but I believe if you hold and open all the way up and then hold and close it all the way it will reset that feature.

The other issue I'm pretty sure from your desciption is the "driveline clunk" which is a very well known issue for this truck and if you search that you will get more info and results than you want.

1) I know after you disconnect the battery that the automatic windows have to "learn" the procedure again. Maybe the sunroof is the same way. Just hold the open/close button untill the roof shuts and see if it will work automaticlly after that.
2) This may be the infamous "driveshaft clunk/thud" issue. Do a search on here and you will find tons of info. Just climb underneath your truck with a grease gun and some Mobil 1 synthetic grease and follow greasing procedures.

Sunroof: May just need to be reset. Open it all the way holding the button. Then close it all the way holding the button AND keep holding it for 1-2 seconds after its closed. That may work.

Lurch at stop: Depending on your meaning of "lurch" it could be the driveline (driveshaft) clunk or if you have the A/C on or set at any defrost setting (then the A/C is on even though the light is not lit) the throttle (idle) is higher then normal when the compressor kicks on and it may feel like its pushing you forward. I definatly notice I have to step on the brake HARDER when stopped to remain stopped when the A/C is on.

WOW! Thank you for the help. I think all of you are spot on regarding the transmission. I figured this was a known issue and appreciate the confirmation and I will follow the info in order to resolve. Regarding the Sunroof-I did replace my battery just the other day. It was the original Panasonic Battery. For a 2006- Not too bad for a battery. In any case, that would make sense! I'll try that and see!

Turns out the reset worked perfectly! Thank you!

Would anyone prefer to recommend a grease gun and grease type for the clunk? I plan on doing that real soon!
