Help with SwitchPro and camera

and anyone else still checking this thread.
I wired up my SwitchPro to BriDIYGuys rear view camera harness so I have a button to turn on the camera whenever I want. But I have encountered another issue. Looking for any assistance .


I wired up the SwitchPro to the positive (longer) cable and I left the negative (shorter) with nothing attached. Result -> nothing happened.



I wired up the SwitchPro to the negative, and left the positive unattached, I just capped it off. Result -> winner winner, chicken.... well, hold on.



The camera does come on when the switch is triggered, BUT, my 4LO and TRAC OFF also switched on when I tired the camera on. When I turned the camera off, the 4LO and TRAC OFF stayed on.



Thoughts?

Let me clear things up first...

From my harness there are two wires:

Shorter wire is the load (needs to be supplied 12v)
Longer wire is the 12v supply (with a regular switch this supplies 12v to the shorter wire)

There is no negative in the setup and none of these two wires should ever be grounded. If any wire is grounded at any point you may have likely blown a fuse which can cause the scenario you are explaining.

As long as the switch pro is just sending 12v to the shorter wire then you should be okay. I would start with checking some fuses (ECU fuses under hood and interior).

Also, to troubleshoot further... Remove the switch pro from the equation and touch the two wires together to see what happens. If it is any different then the switch pro may be messing with it. If it is the same check the fuses and if all else fails I will get you a new harness.

I know this is diverges from the original question here but I'm having some trouble as well and am hoping somebody might be able to provide some insight, especially since you're working with connecting this to a switchpros unit.

I have been trying to search for this but haven't had much luck... I just did the install of my anytime backup cam auxiliary video input dongle and am having some trouble. From what I understand, I do not need to attach both the 'Auxiliary Video Input Dongle' AND the regular 'View My Backup Camera At Any Time' dongle?

So far what I did was attach the aux dongle into the rear of the headunit and then attached the factory harness into the other end of the dongle. Then I have the 'Source Selector' correctly attached with the male/female ends. From the 'Source Selector' I attached the RED wire to one of my Switchpros wires. This should give me the ability to at least turn on the rear camera override, correct? Then I attached a front camera and attached the red wire coming from that to another of the Switchpros wires. From my understanding should allow me to use that second Switchpros button for the front camera override? Also related, I have tried this both with the black wire grounded and also without it grounded and neither time worked. All the electrical wiring is fairly new to me and has thrown me for a loop.

I have been unable to get both the override or front camera to work through my switchpros and am hoping I have connected things wrong and that this is a rather simple fix. Is there something blatantly wrong with what I'm doing?

I think I got the SP to work with Brian's Anytime Rear Cam. I think I have a bad connecter though. As soon as I get the new connector and set it all up, I will post some pics or video of everything working and the wiring setup.

Regardless if that video is the stock rear camera, a front camera, or a dvd player,etc. You need this to view the video feed, unless you only want to view the feeds while in reverse. Think of this as a way to change the input on your TV, that is what this harness is doing.

2. The aux video harness and relay which are used for the front camera addition. The rear override harness must be activated first, then the relay must be energized to switch between rear and front cameras.

You need to apply 12v to the SHORTER wire on the rear override harness, the longer wire will not be used with switch pro applications and apply 12v to the red wire from the relay. The black wire on the relay should be grounded.

Hope this helps. If you connect it any other way you could blow a fuse in the truck and/or fry the resistor in the override harness which will more than likely make your dash light up like a Christmas tree when activated.
