I haven't seen a whole lot of chatter about this and maybe I am just barking up a dead tree. I want to dig in and see if I can replace the stock cam with an aftermarket higher res cam. Has anyone seen that done or at least made some progress?
I had to remove my front camera on my Limited Edition when I installed my grill. I got some feedback over at 4runner.com on the wiring diagram of the stock front camera. The Natika support team was really helpful on what each wire did, power req's etc. I couldn't get anything to come up on the screen. Things that come to mind are is the OEM cam digital where the aftermarkets are analog? Does the HU have some restriction on resolution and just stays black if the resolution is exceeded...that doesn't make sense though because you can install an aftermarket cam which fills up the entire screen? I'm trying to surmise a way around the 5G crap a$$ cameras and willing to test stuff if people have ideas.
A lazy method that has come to mind is installing a hi-res camera beside the stock one just for when I'm crawling around in tight areas and maybe just need to go with an override switch to the HU with a wiring harness? Dunno. Interested in input.
