Help with window switch fix

I tried to roll down the passenger rear window yesterday only to discover that the switch on the drivers door that controls that window no longer works. I can roll it up and down from the switch on the passenger rear door.

Do i just need to take the switch panel out of the driver door and check/clean the connections or do the swithches go bad? TIA.

I'm sure the switch can go bad with time, the internal relay contacts wear out or corrode... But it definitely wouldn't hurt to take the switch out and clean the contacts before shelling out the money for a new switch.

That ebay one looks pretty good. Looks like a brand new one is about $290.

I've cleaned the one on my T100. It works slightly better for it, but still have to mash hard to get the window to work.

I have one from a 96 I'll sell ya for $25 + shipping. I would have used it in my T100, but they are different. Something about 2 doors - vs - 4 doors. :bluejump:

It's been my experience with pw switches that the only parts that go bad are the contacts or the plastic "rods" (lets call them) that push the contacts together.

If you are set to by another one, take that one out disassemble and see what is worn.

YMMV, I have not tried this with Toyota switches only Ford and Subaru, which were very similar internally......that being said, I wouldn't hesitate to pull one apart.....careful of the small rods and springs inside.
