Yoter4Runner

New member
I am seriously new to Toyotas, I usually deal with Chevys and Fords. I am tired of the bigger trucks and have always wanted a Yota. I finally bought an '92 4Runner and couldn't be happier OTHER than all of the sudden my stock front locker wont engage. Is trhis a common problem and how could I start to figure out what the problem could be?

Welcome to T4R !!
There's no such thing as a stock front locker on your truck (unfortunately).
Your truck does have an ADD front axle, which uses a vacuum controlled actuator to lock the left and right sides together for 4WD mode, maybe you mean that ?

I'll move this to the Classics section where you can find info on troubleshooting the ADD system.

Like fourwd1 said, there's no stock front locker on these trucks. You probably have a vacuum-actuated Automatic Disconnect Differential, and if it's not going into 4wd it's probably a vacuum problem. If it happened all sudden-like, my money is on a hose fell off.
