I am new to this site and I just got a 1997 4Runner, and it has 208K miles on it and it just randomly lost power steering and power. Come to find out the Harmonic balancer pulley was lose and about to fall out. The guy I got it from just did the timing belt and I don’t think he put the bolt back in to specs.
I keep seeing 217ft lb, but the Toyota spec is 184ft lb. which is it? And what is the best way to keep that pulley still wile I put the ft lbs on it? It’s an automatic if that helps.
Also is there a seal between the balancer pulley and the timing pulley? Does anyone have schematics of this set up?
Also anyone that has done this before and has some suggestions let me know please. I am not too bad at turning a wrench, but this is my first adventure into a 4 runner and any tips would be great.
