Here is my current Rig. I'll most likely be selling it, and then buying a 2000-2002 Black Sport Edtion 4x4 3.4L v6.

HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK I WOULD GET FOR THIS RIG?

It's maintanence is all up to date.
1998 SR5
131k Milage
Manual transmission
4x4
Good interior Condtion
Chipping paint on the roof.

I got alot of spare peices from my Best friends 4runner that got in a crash, but only the front was damaged. I could have got a ton more, but just a few things i thought i might need haha.

So you want to sell this one in a known condition to buy a black one of unknown condition? If you really want it black that badly I'd have it painted or plastidip it. I can't see the point in selling just because of color. Everyone knows it's a calculated risk buying a used car. You really don't know it's full condition until it's been yours for months and at that point it's too late.

I personally would keep it blue, it's not a color you see often and with black accents it could look really good. Especially with a lift and some bigger tires.

I have not done any mods to it at all. How much would you give? And yes its V6 engine.

Manual
Tires still have a ways to go with tread
Paint chipping on roof, and tiny spot on right side
Interior is great condition 8/10
Shifting works perfect
All Electrical works 100% of the time.
At the moment I have after market Sony Stereo, Eclipse Sub 10", Dual Amp
Very little amount of rust on undercarriage
Has always been taken in for oil changes and what not..


Thats an Honest assessment of my 4runner, Let me know how much you would give, or how much you think i could get !

I honestly don't get the obsession with black.
You're not really getting anymore with what you're looking for. Cup holders? Heated seats? Also, there's some big differences between 2000 and 2001 and 02 as far as the 4wd is concerned. Curious why you're focused on 2000-02 years.
To change vehicles just to change colors is... umh... very chick like. Just sayin'

Oh and I would think in CO, you could get at least $7000 if everything checks out.

I want a 2002 Sport, where both bumpers are matched black. The interior is somewhat more updated, and i like the gray/silver interrior in the 2002 sport. It also comes with hood scoop and skid plate. I'm making like a stealth black build, and i was seeing how much i could get for my blue 4runner. And thanks for the help!

No way. An 01 4wd with 95k went for 7500. There's a bunch of overpriced ones sitting on CL for months.

That is unique color. It would look pretty good with a mild lift and LC wheels. The door trim is pretty tacky though.

At the moment that is just my Dream 4runner haha, The 2015 TRD PRO. I'd either get the black or red version. The interior is amazing, and it already comes lifted and what not ( Are your Avatar pics only supposed to be of your own 4runner? I wasn't sure haha

Seriously....that color and it being a manual makes it rare. Love the color personally. I'd accent the exterior black and put some nice tires and wheels on it. Done!

Haha , I know. This Color is pretty Rare. My dad actually bought it from a dealership in like 2002, It has just been sitting in our Driveway, because he drives his 2002 Sport to work, and i started driving the Blue 1998 when i turned 16. I really do love it, but i would definintly change so many things to it if he would let me. I would put on the Flares or buy new ones and get them matched to the color. I would get the paint damage fixed, take off the ugly running boards, LIFT IT, NEW TIRES, Black rims, Tinted windows, Satoshi Mod, Matched Bumpers, or Black them out, new roof rack, New audio system, Weathertech Window Visors, Weathertech Floor Mats, Led Lights, Frosted corner , Signal, and Tail Lights, Throw on my tail hitch, add a Jaos rear spoiler, Spray down the whole undercarriage with rust preventer, And throw some TR4.ORG Stickers and what not. ( I would have also swapped out my Axle with my best friends who has a REAR DIFF in it, but i didnt even know what that was 2 months ago, and it would almost be impossible to do it now since he just left into the Marines.)

( I would add though, I Love 4runners, iv'e went mudding and offroading in this even though it doesnt have the offroading features added yet, and it is just amazing.

So vinyl it black or monstaline it black. Neither one breaks the bank and stealth is a flat or satin black anyway. I think you have a runner that's in good shape. Changing the color is easy and I think you would like it more once you got done with it if you did it yourself.

Haha, i feel where you guys are coming from. But if i were to paint it black, I would want it done professionally. Plasti-dip Is different from paint as we all know, but i would personally want something that will last another 15+ years if you know what i mean. And a Job like that, people on here said it would cost near 1,500$-5,000$. I dont even know paint prices, but there so expensive... And then changing your paint color could look suspicious to your next buyer..

And Brian, I know All the 3rd gens are pretty much the same besides a few small differences, but just a few small differences can add up in money if i was to transform my 98 into somthing else. Swaping this out would save me money for somthing that already comes with it.

Gray/Silver interior Extremely pricey?
Black Exterior 1000-4000$
Matched Painted Bumpers 150-400$

Matched Painted Rear License plate holder 20-100$
Key-less Entry? No idea? 10-300$?
Skid Plate 50-200$


I also have the option of finding one with less miles and better condition than mine, so that could be a plus to doing this.

I know my prices are not accurate because im not an expert at car pricing but i would guess i would at-least be saving 1,000-3,000$.

I know it would be alot more simple just to keep my rig and work on it, but im kinda looking to make it perfect. I plan on keeping it until i die haha.

You would not want to reprint it black.

I'm lucky because my black paint is in good shape but still, I have had huge issues with paint matching the few panels that were damaged in minor accidents.

Simply put you can never paint it as good as the original and you would not want to repaint over a decent paint job. The blue looks great.
