Simply put you can never paint it as good as the original and you would not want to repaint over a decent paint job. The blue looks great.

Where all the pieces i would have had to get matched to black, are already perfectly matched.

Hey, and that small dent on the right of your rear door, You ever gonna try to fix that or does it not bother you? You might be able to tap it out with a heat gun.

And here's what happens when you find that "perfect" black sport edition that has all the superficial things you want but has unknown maintenance history.

New remanufactured heads: $1,000 (if you install yourself)
New axle seals and bearings: $500 (if you install yourself)
Tie rod ends: I dunno let's say $140 (if you install)
Lower ball joints: $170 (if you install)
New radiator: $200 (if you install)
$300 worth of motor oil as you try to clean the sludge from the bottom end.

Now if you don't think you can install all of that stuff, just plan on adding about a million dollars on top of that.

Take it from someone who has recently searched and failed miserably in finding a good used 4Runner. The grass is most certainly not greener. Finding a runner with less that 200k is getting challenging. The good news is that you could probably sell yours in about an hour if you wanted to get rid of it.

You have a nice truck. Actually, how much are you asking for it?
 
I can honestly say that I don't blame the OP for wanting a 2002 Sport Edition. Those rigs look sweet with a lift and some bigger tires! So many of us on here have wanted a sport hood, many of us have bought one, and some have even gone to great lengths to turn their SR5 into a Sport model.

I love my Mean Green.... but if I had a chance to buy a black Sport Edition... I'd be all over it like White on Rice! lol! That being said.... it would have to be in equal or better condition to my 98 SR5.....

OP, I'd look long and hard until you find that perfect truck before you go selling this blue one. The others are right about the truck you have, being a rare model.... and I'd probably snag it from you if I had the disposable income. I've always wanted a Manual V6..... but settled for my Automatic. lol!

That blue is actually rather nice.... There are a few 4Runners on this site with that same color, that look great!

Good luck with your hunt.... and like the others said.... I don't see you having a hard time selling that old girl for a decent price. :)

And yeah, so far i found these that were pretty good deals.:

BLACK 2000 Toyota 4Runner Sport 4WD - $4,500 -- 200k miles and not great condition
BLACK 2001 Toyota 4runner sport 4WD - 4500 -- 162k miles, Good condition. (Sold after 1 hour of me seeing it)
BLACK 2001 Toyota 4Runner Sport 4WD - 4,990 -- 136k, Looks almost perfect, great price, but Brown interior(kinda warn)
BLACK 2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport - $7,488 -- was perfect mint condition with 120k miles, but only 2wd
BLACK 2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport 4WD - $6,999 -- Was Great deal, but 220k miles on it.


But they either had to many Miles, or too many scratches, or brown interior and what not.

I'm going to be gone for 2 years on a mission for my church, and my dad will probably be looking for the right 4runner for me... So he has a solid 2 years haha. And im sure for the right price he would buy one anywhere in the U.S. so that makes my chances even better.
 
OP... to reiterate what others have been saying (Esp in CO) -- you have an awesome color that I haven't even seen before... and its a 5spd to top it off with low miles.

You have already got 2 or 3 offers in this thread alone. Don't skimp out on charging a premium, you are selling a premium 3rd gen minus the small bad stuff like roof chips.

I'm Sure ill have to spend some extra money on maintainence once i buy it, but i wont be buying a 4runner that has no previous records.. It will have like a car fax atleast, and theres sometimes people who keep every record and receipt every time they take it in to get fixed... I'm sure i wont have to pay for all of that right as a buy a new 4runner haha.. Maybe over alot more miles... And i've seen some Black sports under 100k miles and not extremly overpriced either.

Just so you know, Carfax is not very reliable aside from telling how many owners and inspection passes your vehicle had. It can easily miss any accidents that may have happened.
 
Hey guys, I just noticed this when looking under my 4Runner. What is this bar called? And i dont feel i can push it back into position to push the bolt all the way through. How can i fix this? I have a new nut to put on it. Thanks for your help!

It's the pan hard. Try to find a way to pull the bolt to the driver side. The bushing will allow for some wiggle room. Put some Loctite on it when you put a new nut on.
 
I'd use a cheap socket extension to try and line the holes up while applying pressure (a lot) to the bolt and try to work it through.

Perhaps jack the 4Runner up a bit from the frame to see if it will shift it some?

Unique color... You have the potential to build a very cool looking vehicle that you probably won't see another of.

I'd tint match the front windows before you think about selling it. I think it'll make a HUGE difference in appearance.

I've got the bolt out of that bar. Right now im trying to move the left spring into place because it wasnt in place when i just found it.

Do i need to take the sway bar and shock off before i can move the spring at all?

Is it a problem if the spring isnt completely in place? Its about 180 Dagrees away from where it should be.

When i put it all together and put the pan hard bar screw back in, do i have to buy a certain washer and nut from my toyota dealership, or can i just use a washer and nut similar to the one that was on there?

Removing the sway bar link will give you more droop in the rear a lot easier. Put a jack stand on the frame, and remove the wheel. Once this is done you can put a jack between the frame and the axle. The factory jack works good for this. Start turning the jack, and it'll push the axle down. This should give you enough to turn the spring. As far as the washer goes you don't need a Toyota specific one. Take the bolt to a local hardware store, buy a hardened nut, and matching washer. If you can find a top lock nut get one rather than the nylons. Top lock nuts will have 3 crimp marks on the top of nut.

So it should be able to work without the shocks being disconnected? I would prefer that haha. And thanks for the help!

I was able to remove my rear springs with the shocks attached. Worse case just remove the shock end on the axle side.
