The picture wouldn't load for me but it's a Fortuner not a 4Runner.

Yea, I don't think that's it either. I saw the pics of the interior and they that vehicle is still using the current gens layout and steering wheel. Is that an '09 foretuner?

The fortuner has been in the Philippines since 2004. They're everywhere, many are even using them as "taxi style" passenger van

If I remember the fortuner is avail in 4x4 Diesel, its direct injection 4 cylinder inline and with Turbo intercooler.. also 4x2 diesel and 4x2 Gas..:)

Fortuner is in the US too, it's the Lexus RX, just like the Prado is the GX.

Maybe I misunderstood you but I'm not sure if that's accurate if you are talking about the platform. Isn't the GX built off of the 4runner? If so, then by your assumption, the Prado IS the 4runner too.

The foretunner dimensions look bigger but I'm not sure on that one.

The Prado/GX arn't just the same platform, they are the same vehicle, simply with different trims between Toyota and Lexus, and yeah, the 4Runner is based on it but it's chassis is a different length, as is the Tacoma and FJ right?

As for the RX / Forturner, these are the same platform not the same vehicle, yes. This has been the same platform at the Highlander as well. The new Fortuner looks bigger than the RX because it is bigger than the old RX, the new Highlander is huge in comparison to the old, and I suspect that's why the new Fortuner is larger as well.

I think the 4runner has it's place in the lineup and won't be replaced or discontined. The Fortuner is not a frame construction, and can't replace what the current 4Runner can do load wise, and as long as they are making Tacoma's and FJ's they might as well have the luxo sport 4Runner.

What a tease. I thought someone finally had a photo. Should have known better.

It seems to me like now is the time to be seeing a spy shot if it's coming out as a 2010. Makes me think that there isn't a redesign coming and/or it's being discontinued, which would disappoint me greatly.

Thats not it . Thats from overseas . They look way different than the US vers.

With the 09's out , I would guess they will hold back until the last minute so they don't end up with surplus like in 08.

Ok,no more "5th gen Runner" threads w/o actual 100% positiveness that it is actually is the new 4Runner.

I think we have more than a few threads claiming this. :bash:

Not true, i own a fortuner in Fiji and the RX is a totally different vehicle from the fortuner. My dad has several business' in Fiji and goes on business trips to Fiji quite often and uses the fortuner he bought down there. They in no way share the same platform as the RX/harrier. The fortuner is alot bigger and the chassis is totally different. The chassis on the fortuner is the same as the JDM landcruiser.

It's a Fortuner...not a 4Runner.

I went to Thailand last year & there were hecka Fortuners.

Yes...I took pictures. Whoever wants to sees, I'll post. Just message on this Thread.

Could you post a pic of your Fortuner? I'd like see what you've got down there in Fiji. I think the easiet way to tell is by the wheel lugs. From what I recall Fortuners and RX's both have 5 lug. 4Runner, Tacoma, GX, Prado, all have 6 lug.
