Here it is.......the 5th Gen

The Fortuner is NOT used as a Taxi-style passenger van in the Philippines at least. They are normal civilian vehicles. The Toyota AVANZA is the new "tamaraw FX" taxi-style passenger van there.

Hilux can be similar to the American Tacoma since the tacoma is not sold outside the US. 4Runner is the Hilux SURF..

4Runner, GX470, LX470, and Land Cruiser, Sequoia, and Tundra all share the SAME platform.. Oh and the FJ Cruiser too.

Fortuner is available in 3 trim levels. 2wd G 2.7L Gas, 2wd G 2.9L Diesel, and 4wd 3.0L V Diesel

Two years ago, my uncle kicked his driver after knowing that he (driver) used the Fortuner to pick-up students near school campus for cheap ride to the mall.:bash: So why the Fortuner/Adventure/Innova? because L300 and Hi-Ace are easily recognized by cops as"colurum" vehicles. Ofcourse they are not licensed to operate.
In our province(last 2006), my brother used to park his Pajero(also his friend w/ an Adventure) and wait in a restaurant near the pier waiting for excess passengers, those were not accomodated by "shuttle service"...the Bus and Jeepneys are in the Terminal a tricycle ride away from pier...Since he is a seaman and still single, i heard him mentioned about buying a Fortuner..and if he gets laid off?? The Fortuner will end up colurom LOL!!..(being practical these days)

But I agree that those fortuners are NOT Lisenced to operate as TAXI..Those drivers need to offer ride secretly..:)
