Here we go....

So I got the Radflow rebuildables when I got the SS 1.2 kit. The kit was great, and I have been happy with it. I am however going to ask a question that I am probably going to get blasted for.:hiding: Here we go anyways though, I have been trying to get the coilovers adjusted to bring the front up since I put the lift on with absolutely 0 success. Its getting REALLY frustrating because I feel like I am driving a F*$%ING wedge around. I am about to redo the LBJs in a week or so, and I am to the point I am going to take the coilovers out to get them adjusted by a professional while I have the LBJs off. Anyone have any suggestions, I would much rather do it myself...

Sidenote- Anyone have any experience they would like to share on the steering rack and sway bar bushing kits from Wheeler off road?

What exactly are you asking?

Is there an easier way to adjust those coilovers without feeling like I am going to strip the nuts on the top of them? I have fought with them a couple times, only to lose by decision, and I don't want to mess the nut up so they can't be adjusted. ANY way, and I do mean PRETTY MUCH ANY way to get the fully lifted without taking them to a professional.

Edit: I guess I had the whole original post articulated properly, and after re-reading it.....man do I feel DUMB.

Do those not use a spanner wrench to turn the adjusting ring???
Mgyver1 has the Rad Flow with remote reservoirs and they require a spanner wrench to adjust the lift height and ride quality, like most other aftermarket coilovers.

EDIT: Just looked over the 1.2 kit with radflows. IDK what nuts you are turning on, but the only thing that adjusts the ride height is the spanner ring/nut. You need a spanner wrench to do so and to do it correctly you first need to loosen the lock ring and then turn the adjustment ring clockwise, all this while the front is off the ground.

Yes they do...I tried adjusting them new, with it. Couldn't get the spanner ring/nut to turn, lubed it up, still no luck. Re-engaged later with more lube, and some more determination. After 2-3 hours, of slipping off it, and busting knuckles I had to call it quits.:smash: I have just been figuring there has to be a trick to it that I am missing, oh, have tried on the ground and with it up in the air suspension at full droop too.

I agree with this.

On the steering rack bushings, I just picked up a set from O'Reilly's for $20. Dorman I think was the brand. I did have an issue with the metal sleeve being the wrong size so I have to get a new nut and bolt. So I guess I'm not recommending the Dorman brand.

I have camburgs and they too are a PIA to turn, I have also resorted to putting a tube on the end of the wrench to add leverage, but I have never not been able to get them to turn. You could try that.

Is there an allen locking bolt on the adjustment ring? My camburgs have that instead of a lock ring.

X2^ you did loosen the locking mechanism right? Even with 700 lb coils my Kings were never hard to adjust so something has to be wrong.

Here you go, last setup in the instructions:

28. To adjust the coilovers both front wheels need to be drooped completely. There is no need
to remove the wheels. Use a C-Spanner wrench ( Not supplied) to loosen the top lock collar of
the adjustment ring. Use the spanner wrench to rotate the adjustment collar down for
additional lift or up for less lift. The lift will be approximately double the distance the collar is
moved. Once the desired lift is reached tighten the lock collar on the adjustment collar again.
Tip:- Using some lubrication on the thread and collar will make it easier to adjust. DO NOT
adjust the collar beyond 1” of exposed thread between the top of the collar and
the bottom of the top shock cap on a 700 LB spring, 2.15" on a 650 LB spring and
2.33" on a 600 LB spring.

No its a lock ring just like Mgyver1 has. It just isn't the external resi that he has. I had considered putting a cheater bar on there like you said. But for whatever reason that spanner wrench is always slipping off...I think thats in and of itself is causing plenty of frustration. I am going to do the LBJs and was thinking of taking them off to try to adjust them. Thoughts?

Toss a set of compressors on there there and get the preload off the ring. Had to do that on a set of H&R's I had on an old car.

I got the locking rings loosened up, a solid 3-4 threads above the spanner nut, before trying to crank it down/lift it up.

I mean, I used to work on tuner cars a lot, and never encountered anything like this before with adjustables....

Wasn't trying to call you dumb, people just miss the obvious sometimes (ask me how my coilovers adjusted when i left the lock screw in :ybrick:)

I suppose you can try the spring compressor method but I would put more money on getting a big tube or something and get more leverage

Yeah, most definitely didn't take it that way. Will try to get a big ole bottle of lube and lube it up good, and throw a cheater bar on there and give it another good ole college try I guess.

The reservoir fitting is in the way so you can't use the spanner wrench while the coilover is mounted. I ended up using a large flat blade screwdriver with some tape on the end to keep it from marring the aluminum. It was very slow going.

So take them off, get them adjusted, and put them back on is what you are saying? Even though I don't have the external resi like you do? Okey dokey

Well without the resi it should be much easier to fit the spanner wrench in there. Hold the top adjuster ring with the spanner wrench and knock the locking collar with a flat blade screwdriver. Might be easier with two people.
