hesitation accelerating

Anyone have advice for fixing hesitation when accelerating? I notice it mostly from gears 2 to 3. Here's my setup:

1997 SR5, 5 speed, 4wd. 160k miles. Use mid grade gas, 87 octane. Keeping up with general maintenance.

I would inspect all spark plugs to see if she

when i had that same problem, new spark plugs seemed to fix it. I'd check those first.

btw, greasefingers, i had a 90 corolla before my 4runner....she made it to 160K before the body basically fell apart. the engine was still great though.

do yourself a favor...check the plugs. replace if necessary. however! if one plug looks worse than the others, replace your wires at the same time! i had a stutter/stumble and did plugs. helped a bit, but then it came back shortly after. changed the wires, and she runs like new.

Thanks, fellas. Great advice! I'll check the plugs directly, and prob'ly just do all the wires at the same time.
