Like the title says I'm new and i would like to start offroading since I inherited my moms 1998 4Runner...it is completely stock except the skid plates...I'm planning on building a roof rack/Light mount in my welding class...I have about 3 months experience with MIG and Flux core...I was wondering if anybody on here has had any experience with building anything like this...and if you do...do you have any build plans?

P.S- I would also like to get a 2 in lift on it too...what do you guys recommend?

If you're looking for a 2" suspension lift, go with Old Man Emu. It'll ride and handle better than new.
You building the roof rack from aluminum? best choice, you want to keep the weight up that high as low as possible.

I would recommend the OME lifts. As far as shocks, i would go with he bilstein 5100 adjustables. Here's a picture of my rig if you want to see.

Thank you all for your help...I will eventually have the money to purchase the lift kit...as I have just acquired a job since I can now drive lol...another question is...do you guys roll the sway bar on or off?

I keep mine one. When you take it off, it increases the travel. (you can flex a lot more!) but on the other hand, when its off, your car will rock back and fourth quite a bit. So unless you're doing crazy rock crawling and will need the travel, I would suggest to leave it on. :driving:

Where did you purchase your lift...and how much do you pay for it...the places I see it is being sold for atleast 1,000 dollars...how much did you pay for it?
