C'mon....I'm going out by myself again and getting into mischief. Just went out with the 4WD group out to Hell Hole trail and lake. No, I only took Ruffian so far and then parked her still stock self on the side of the trail where we removed the downed Oak trees. (Club trail maintenance)
Anyway, any one want to go take a totally safe SUV trail? C'mon...huh? You know you wanna!
I'm going out again with the group to do the Blue Lakes and then Strawberry trails again in a couple of weeks, but Ruffian isn't going to make that one all the way either. So I'm hankering to go out on my own again.
C'mon....lets go play. Pick any class 4 trail and I'm game!

By the way, as a reminder, on that same website, I did the Eagle Lakes trail (class 5) all by myself. So no wusses, we can easily do any of the class 4's.

I've got great videos, but don't know if I can post them here. Just a few of my favs from Hell Hole. Yeah this was darn near Class 10 & Rubicon type stuff. I rode in a '88 4Runner.

Hiya Kenny,
That would be fine if you wanted to ride along and not get your 4Runner dirty. It's a shame though! But if I can get you bitten by the off roading bug, it'll be worth it. If I can't go out with the club again Sept. 5-7th, I'll be doing my own run. It's all going to depend if I can find a seat to ride along as the trail they are taking is not stock safe. Not as bad as Hell Hole, but there are 2 spots that Ruffian would incure body damage, and it's not worth it to me.
So yeah, lets get to hollering and see if we can work up a bunch of people from here to go. I know Alaskaman and someone else from Sac. wanted to go. I don't yet know for sure for Magnumfan, and I need to see if Simple would go out again. Let's wait and see for a week, and then we'll have to do a notice on one of these threads of our SUV safe fun run, and see what happens.

Hi guys,
No Ruffian is still doing her thing, erm...un-protected & un-lifted. That's another club members '88 4Runner. She was fun to ride in. If you want to watch some of my videos I took on those rocks inside that 4Runner, PM me your email adrs and I'll send you the link into my Photo Bucket account to watch them. I think I took about 15. A couple are awesome! It'll give you a testosterone boost and wanna come out to play with Ruffian in the future.

My rock sliders are being made. Just went around town today, one place in Rocklin and one in Citrus Heights, to talk to guys about suspension lift kits and the install. And to try to sell those limited running boards. I got install quotes from $250-$350, and that OME set up is going to run me in the $600-$900 range depending of if I decide to go soft or med. coils.

I'm going out with the club to do the Blue Lakes/Deer Creek and then Strawberry trails back around to Hwy 50 this weekend. Ruffian will be parked in Elk Grove where I will meet up and ride in a erm....ducking down here...Jeep. It's a very nice Jeep though and a pretty silver blue just like Ruffian.

I went to Borders yesterday and spend $50 in some more N. CA 4x4 trails. So I'll start doing some research and pick a trail that I think is ok for novices. Or we can do the Alleghany run like I did with MagnumFan a couple of months ago if you guys like. It's going to have to be a Sunday. How does Oct. 5th or 12th sound to you guys???

If my crazy work schedule permits, I'd love to join you guys, it sounds like a fun trip!!! I'll be getting sliders too soon (hopefully). Hey Ruffian, how much lift will the OME Coils give you?

Hiya Will,
The OME lift I'll be getting is the soft, or stock ride one. It's about 3 front and 2 1/2 rear. Overall it gives you about a 3" lift which is all that the 4th gen CV Joints are engineered to safely work with.
All this is going to have to wait for a while until I've saved up enough. My rent was just increased last week, so thus, now I'm looking to move. Bloody sucky economy.
So other than when ever those rock sliders are done, Ruffian will be riding stock height for a while longer. So guys, let me know when you want to do this. There are a bunch of great runs even out of say off 80 or so near Stockton/Sac. heading out towards Yosemite like area. Safe, easy SUV runs with just say gentle rock gardens. I ended up doing the Deer Valley trail with the 4x4 club. So sooooooo thankful I didn't take Ruffian. This trail has gotten worse, and it is definately not as large boulders as Hell Hole, but massive unforgiving rock gardens that are just as bad to negotiate. It was awesome, even in a Jeep! I got a few good pics, but the videos I took are thrilling!

Hey Ruffian,

That's cool, I'm thinking of going OME myself. I currently have Revtek (I bought that because it was the only thing out at the time). It's ok but I lost about 1" of lift in the front when the coils settled. I want my full 3" back, hopefully before it's time to get new tires. That's too bad about your rent, sometimes it seems like everything goes up except our wages
I'll check my schedule and let you know when I can go, I love to find new trails!!!

It sucks only have Tues & Wed as my weekend. Ruffian and I still go out on our own. Sigh....only 6 more months till shift change. I miss hanging with my 4WD buddies. Well instead of off road mods now, Ruffian is getting performance ones! Vroooooom!

Even though I live in nor cal, I'm originally from so cal so I don't mind at all driving a wee bit south to wheel with you guys. I just need advance notice so I can plan for the trip and maybe even see some family if I have the time. Please keep me posted on your future trips if you can!!!
