I did the same over last summer. I lasted maybe 4 months before I caved and had to get back in a 4runner. Welcome back
 
I picked up that something was going on because he's been asking all these suspicious questions about fog lights recently. You don't just go buying fog lights and turn signal stalks for an SR5 if you have no SR5 on which to put them.
 
Nice buy and welcome back! I saw that you posted a shrockworks bumper for an 01, but I thought it was for your sister, brother, friend or babies mama mama.

Congrats Quicksilver! Looks like a great rig w/a unique color/trim combo and I guarantee you are going to LOVE the supercharger. I'd like to see some more pictures in this thread, please.

Yes, it's a nice truck. All stock, except for the supercharger. I don't have any service records on it...I'm actually trying to find the original owner to talk to him in person. Anyone know a Matthew Menotti, from Rio Rancho NM....but he moved to Round Rock TX? lol I need to find the dude.


Anyway, yes it will get modded. However, the ONLY reason I was able to pull this deal off is based on the truck staying pretty basic for a while....for gas mileage. If I can get 18-19mpg, I'll be good. So no big lift or big tires. I'm just putting the stuff that's in my garage (off my old rig) on it: tall '99 coils, with spacers in the rear (Hmm....I think someone else used this idea too....cough, BFAD, cough). When the tires need replaced I'll get 265/75's. If I can get a steller deal on a Shrockworks front bumper, I'm going to jump on it....but probably not install it for a while. Eventually this 4Runner will become what my old one was, a 3rd vehicle to play in the snow and go camping/hunting/etc. But for now, it's my daily. This is what happens when you have kids and are forced to buy a bigger house. :)

Youll have no problem getting 19, i get 20+ very often (last full tank averaged to 19.891 mpg).

Dude, is the internet great or what. I totally found the previous owner of my 4Runner on Facebook. I'm waiting for him to message me back, but I'm 100% sure it's him.

How can you tell the oils been changed? The paint mark on the plug? Just wondering.

I want to change the oil, and the kit i ordered from TRD came with a little disc thing too. It also came with instructions....that say I have to remove the whole supercharger.

I know BFAD used some GM supercharger oil, and I might do that for a quick and dirty change right away. I'm just curious is anyone with a supercharger as used the actual TRD "oil change kit". And what your thoughts are....

Did you get those links I emailed you? In that nose-cone write up, that guy did not have to remove it, although he mentioned the instructions told him to. You just need that syringe thing to suck all the oil out before you take the nose cone apart.
 
Congratulations on the new 4Runner!

You have to remove the supercharger on the 1st Gen models to change the oil, but on your 2nd Gen you do not have to remove it. You can just suction out the old fluid through the fill plug. From what I've seen it looks pretty easy.

Glad you found another Runner! Sounds like a good plan keeping it stock for a while, and hopefully the SC will make it a blast to drive! I need me one of those superchargers. :)
 
Ripcord, I'm on '99 Tall Springs, 265/70/16's, new plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, PCV Valve, O2 sensor and cleaned both the throttle body and MAF. I'm averaging 14.5 MPG's. HELP please. It's a '97 Limited, 5VZ, Auto, 4x4 with 191K on it.
