Hey guys!

New member, bought a 1997 4-Runner earlier this year (5spd, rear e-locker, ~149,000mi) and I've been loving it so far. Switched from a Lexus IS300, so it's a bit of a change, but given my hobbies (big dogs and outdoorsy stuff) it was an easy choice. Now I've just gotta increase my "handyman" trait. It has like zero skill points. Maybe two.

I didn't get any pictures of it when I bought it, but I did paint the stock wheels black and I think they came out okay. I also put on the wind deflectors. Harrrrd work. So here's the "before" picture, I suppose.

I've been friends with EatonkyleH for a long time, and he was the one helping me decide on the right truck etc.etc. Anyway, he was looking to sell off some stuff to afford newer (bigger) stuff, so I took him up on the whole shebang (tires, roof basket, OME lift) and bought myself some budbuilt skid plates. So, the only progress pictures thus far (no lift just yet, we didn't have time for all that in one day).

and had a little fun painting the skid plate. Why not?

Took it out that night and almost rolled my relatively inexperienced self over. Dumb. Oh well! Let's go adventure!

post a few more time on here saying "reserved 1, reserves 2 reserved 3" or what ever to just save some posts right up front if you want to keep this your build thread, or start one for that matter.

ill delete this post in a bit. but i want a IS300! got any pic of it?

Oh, good idea! Thanks. Don't use forums much. I assume I can edit the title and my posts' content as time goes on?

And I do have pictures of my old IS300! Didn't really have money to do much with it (finishing college) but I really loved that thing. So fun to drive.

I guess for the next reserved spot I'll just put pictures of (one of) my puppies for the time being. Who doesn't like puppies?

Probably won't need another reserved spot.

Nice IS and glad you had someone whispering in your ear during the search. Looks like you landed a nice one.

Welcome!

UPDATE 7/25/14:
Put the lift kit on last weekend. Sitting a little higher than before. I'm going to paint some of the chrome and the emblems black this weekend with some plastidip - I want to give it a shot and see how it looks. Input and criticism always welcome! Although I get that some of you might not like the pentagram.. theme? :guitar3:

Broke a tail light (not pictured) on a metal pole in a forest of all things. Ordered some new ones with the clear part smoked. Painting things black along the way!

Is there a way to change the title of the whole post? Or would starting another thread be easier for a build thread? Not that I expect this to turn into thread of the century or something... Just a misnomer.

I had a bit of fun with some plastidip over the weekend. Not a big fan of chrome, so I painted over it. Fun stuff to work with, hopefully it lasts! Touched up the wheels (recent alignment after the lift) and a spot I missed on the front skid while I was at it.

Not the most beautiful pictures. It's been a bit rainy lately, but the idea is there. Hopefully going up the weekend after this one and will get some good pictures. This weekend is metal time for the gf and I

PM one of the mods.

Looks good with the lift on there.

all it needs now is a set of 99+ clears............ :eyebrows:

They're in the basement now! But it's cold as hell so I'm going to hope we get a nice day coming up so I can throw them on.

A few pictures from an adventure in October with EatonKyleH:

Asaspades93 take a look at this build. maybe you two can get together and go wheel sometime.

Fixed a broken tail light and put some niteshade and guards on both, and added clear front corners with a little niteshade. Sorta an experiment, I figure I can remove it if it's too dark or I don't like the way it looks. I used three shades on the clear corners and clear section of the tail lights, and two on the red. I left the red reflector alone on the tail lights (hard to tell in the crappy pictures). Any input from you folk? Keeping the plastidip from fading is a little challenging, but it's an alternative that works until I can afford armor...

Unfortunately, the front bumper clear turn signals were a different size than I anticipated, but that's my fault. So there's still some mis-match. I also had a strange... coincidence when replacing the front corners. Same bulbs, just different housing, but now neither work. Any suggestions?

These pictures all kindof suck. I need better lighting haha.

As a side note, it's my last week at the job I've had for the last 2.5 years, I'm returning to school to hopefully up the pay and get more interesting work/research. The downside is school costs money, which makes my truck sad. It's definitely an exciting change though!

Recent trip to Moab we took - spent four days roaming around. Started in the San Rafael Swell, hiked little wild horse canyon, explored Goblin Valley State Park, went across the Gemini Bridges trail, checked out Moab, drove through Arches (they don't like dogs, so exploration was limited).

Mostly exploration, not much off-roading.

It has semi-matching music, for those interested:
