Hi new here, please help

Hi, new here so hope I am posting in the right area.

I had a problem with a metal on metal sound on my right hand front side tyre.
So I took all the tyres off and put them back on without finding anything wrong.
Now my steering pulls me to the right and there is a grinding metal on metal sound. Any advice would be great. My car is at work and I dont know if it would be ok to drive home very very slowly.

I have a 1990 toyota 4 runner

Hard to say. There are a couple of things that could be wrong. My first inclination would be the wheel bearings. Can you lift the right front tire and shake the wheel up and down and rotate it to see if you can hear the noise. If it is the bearings I would not suggest driving home on it.

Check the steering stops. Dollars to donuts the plastic caps are gone, so you have metal on metal at full lock.
If you don't know what they are I posted a pic of them in a similar thread a few days ago, just search.

Def steering stops or linkage as said ^ Or the CV. I had worn and ripped boots on my CV and it supplied a bit of rumble, but not a grind as said. Either way, You have to get it on a lift and inspect the front end from under. Turn the tires and inspect the free play. Find those steering stops.

Another possibility that always makes a metal-on-metal grinding sound is brake backing plates--when they get bent, they drag on the rotor and grind away. Bearings are usually more of a droning or rumbling sound. Same with CV shafts--usually don't make a grinding noise.

Yeah I'm a little throw off by the grinding and the pulling at the same time. That's why I wasn't really thinking CVs. I know when my bearing went it went all the way. Of course it didn't help that the PO kept driving on it.

A bad piston in your caliper could be the cause as well. If you've got a stuck caliper then you may have worn the pad down to metal.
