HID Conversion on 4th Gen

I have to drive at night often, so I'm very concern about lighting. When I picked up 4Runner from the dealer I was very impressed of the lighting. 4Runner headlights were 10x better then my previous Montero ones. After I discovered this forum, I have gone with Silverstars what many here did. Silverstars are good halogen lights, but they still have one major problem - they halogen and this means in heavy fog, rain or snow condition they are "blind". This means that you can't see far from your vehicle. I was disappoint of this but thought that this is maximum what you can get from headlights. Therefore, Silverstar are better then stock. After some night driving in my boss FX with HID, I realized how good HIDs in such extreme conditions.
I got Xetronic 4300K HID from Burtaman Industries. Those lights are awesome. Great light output, no glare with stock reflectors, and they look OEM from outside

The lights are coming in a box with all hardware. All you need to do is to assemble just one connector for each side.

Then you have to remove your stock bulb, disconnect the connector. Before installing the ballasts and igniters, Xetronic recommends to install HID bulbs and look for the place where ballast may be installed (the wires are approx. 10

Now you have to connect brown connector from the stock vehicle low beam wiring to black connector from the ballast.

Now the system is assembled and ready to be place on the vehicle

The last thing, but one of the most important steps is to find the coolest place in the engine bay for ballasts and igniters. They are becoming hot during operation and need to be cooled as much as possible. I did mount my right to the fender behind the heat shield of my intake and the left one to the fender behind the battery.

see I've done searching here on this website.... what's the final verdict though? anyone in law enforcement? is HID's illegal if the factory vehicle didn't come with them? or are they allowed?


I'm really wanting to do this mod!
 
hey buddy im in the middel fo doing the install however there is nothign telling me what wire is the ground ie the white and black one.....and sugg....and any tips to help me it streight n simple....thanks

the white wirer comeing off the HID is the ++ it goes to the stock wirer that is red with the strip and the other is the neg.

I've never done an HID conversion, but am interested. How do you know which bulb to pick? 9003, 9004, 9006... etc...? And if you wanted to do both high and low beam, do you need 2 kits? This is for a 00' Limited
