HID headlight kit for 2nd gen?

I've been searching and reading and can't seem to find a straight answer. What I'm wanting to know is can I just buy an HID kit for my 1992? I haven't had it very long so please excuse my ignorance. I'm not sure if it has just a replacement bulb type or if it's the kind where you have to replace the whole headlight, glass and all (this was the case in my old POS Grand Prix). I found this kit I'd love to get but I want to make sure before I spend $100 Dual Beam - Hi/Lo: 9004 Full Xenon HID Conversion Kit | XenonHIDs.com any advice will be much appreciated!! :israel:

Do you have the sealed bean style front end of the tear drop style housings? I don't know the actual term for them.

Not sure, I've looked but I can't see very well at the back of the light. Here's a pic of mine if it helps?

That's the teardrop style. As far as I know there aren't any kits on the market for retrofitting HIDs for 2nd gens. Mine had the sealed beams originally so I got my housings from DDM tuning .

So is there anything I can do to give my headlights a bit of a blue tint? Not much, I just put LED's on my bumper and they're so bright they make the stock headlight look super yellow

Why do you want blue tint? Not hating, just wondering. Blue will cast shadows and will eventually get you pulled over. If you get some 4300k hids I bet you'll never go back to anything else. :thumb:

Well it's not that I want a blue tint, I just don't want to get something not as bright as my LED's and be stuck where I am now again. Will those HID's in that link work? Again, sorry for my ignorance, I just want to make 100% sure before I drop any money on anything. here's a pic of the LED's. I like them because they're not over-done :thumb3: I just want something that will be about that brightness

That kit will technically work, But it will scatter your light pattern everywhere and piss off oncoming traffic if you use stock housings.
There's probably someone out there that has installed projectors into stock housings.

Ya putting those lights in your stock housings will just make your 4runner the most hated vehicle in town. I did a lot of research on this for my 95 and gave up but the closest I got is to convert your grill and headlights to the 4x6 sealed beam style which I believe 90 and 91's had. Not sure what all is involved in that though.

My 92 has the pickup style front, but mine is a weird model for its time. Haha.
If you do convert your front, it opens up quite a few options for housings.
Old pic but this is my 92.

I just went and bought the 9004 Sylvania ZXE's. I got a twin pack for $45 so why not...they say they're the closest to HID's as you can get so maybe I'll get a lot of whiteness without the scatter
