HID Help

So I just installed some 6500k HID onto my 02 4Runner. When I put down e-brake, that automatically turns on the DRL. So my question is that when the DRL is on, it makes my lights flicker until I turn the lights all the way on. Is it safe to just unplug the connector from the DRL module under the steering wheel without having any side effects?

Hello,

If your vehicle uses the same bulb for both the DRL and low beams you will need to deactive the DRL.

Yes they are both using the same bulb in my car. I saw that there is a plug that goes into the DRL module under the steering wheel.
Do you think it is safe to unplug the DRL from under the steering wheel and not have any side effects?

Did you check to see if there is a fuse? On some vehicles it is as easy as pulling a fuse to disable the DRL.

I've already tried that. All it did was turn off all my lights inside the car including the headlights.

if it is a factory installed system, i belive you can go to the dealership and have them turn the feature off with their BCM programmer

or you can just snip the wire, which is what i did. drl's no longer work and no other problems.

did you snip the wire from the connector under the steering wheel?

I just drive w/ my headlights on all the time. The 4Runner has an auto off feature so when you turn the car off and open the door the headlights turn off. Plus I have yellow HID fogs, so they look bada$$ at night and during the day

Can you tell me which wire did you snip so that I don't cut the wrong one?

hahhaa, i have the same problem. i just hold the hid beam in and it shuts it off.

Finally I found out that I needed to cut the black/yellow wire. So far no side effects what so ever and I still have my auto-off. No more wasting my HIDs in the daytime.

I just disconnect the wiring harness vs. snipping it.

is there anyway to rewire the drls to maybe the "side markers" or the corners? i like having my drls even if i hardly ever even see them. but i want to in the long run, have projectors and HIDs. is there anyway to have both the HID projectors and the drls at the same time without wasting the HIDs?
