HID in Reflector...anyone have experience?

it's a fact. you fuq with the lighting, you're downgrading light output and putting yourself and others at a safety risk.

plus do you guys actually think you look cooler? you drive a damn commuter SUV. a nice one, but far from rollin in a G55 AMG with HIDs from the factory that look absolutely siq.

You can upgrade your lighting to make it better then what we have, where not talking about putting bluish looking bulbs in the headlamps to look cooler.

People aren't doing this to look cooler, the light output for HIDS is much stronger then the standard halogen lighting we have. If you put HIDS in the projectors and aim them properly you are seriously upgrading your headlights.

Exactly what I was thinking! I should be getting the HID kit tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how it turns out and post some pictures. Hopefully it will solve more problems then it will create. Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

Install them and align when necessary. The stock housing generates 'glare' and the HID bulb will only increase 'glare' incrementally. You'll get flashed when stopped at an intersection or when you crest a hill, but some of that will always be normal. People perceive that you have your headlights on highbeam.

I've drivin' with a 9006 kit for approximately 5 years now. It's a drastic improvement over halogen type bulbs.

I've found that HID kits in the fog projector housings are tricky to deal with. There's less space and more chances for the bulb to touch something and the small housing is exposed to crud, water condensation, dirt etc. (Just because it's lower on the vehicle).

Let's just say I'm back to running cheap 9006's in the fogs.

Just as a post note, projectors are not a cure all to glare. Their light beam pattern can and does move up and down on bumpy roads, which in my opinion becomes a distraction itself.

Don't get me wrong, i'm the type of guy who uses RainX and keeps his wipers on slow rather having them move a mile a minute.

I suggest HIR bulbs. They are way brighter and make driving more enjoyable at night. They do not blind anyone and are completely street legal.

4300K HIDS installed

Hey guys, just installed the 4300K HIDS I got and all I can say is WOW!! The install took all of 10 minutes. SO MUCH more light, its so much nicer to drive at night now! I haven't messed with the headlight orientation yet or driven around in traffic since it was so late but I did drive around a little in my neighborhood a little and its amazing how bright everything is.

I'll let you guys know if I end up getting flashed or anything (I plan on driving behind my friends and see if there are any problems), but there seems to be a pretty good cut off with the stock housings, not nearly as bad as what I was expecting. See the pics below (photo 3 will look blinding only because the camera can't handle the light, believe me in person its not nearly that bad, much more controlled).

If anything, I am improving light output. 4300k HIDs are brighter than stock halogens...I don't follow your logic.

And I'm not trying to look cooler, I'm trying to increase light output on the road which is the whole point of me getting a 4300k kit vs a blue/purple 8,000-10,000k one. Why are you freaking out about this? chill dude, im just trying to get some info from people about what to do/previous experience.

one of my car pet peeves is people who F around with the lighting system.

if it doesn't come from the factory with that lighting setup, don't do it. you're just blinding folks and it looks like you're trying too hard.

buy a truck that comes with HIDs from the factory. you're throwing out less light and light that will tire your eyes quicker than the factory setup.
