HID Install Issue

I am having some trouble finding a good way to mount the componets to the Xenon Depot kit i have. So could some of you tell me how you mounted the componets?

I mounted mine with the velcro and the heat was just too much for it. I mounted one side on the fender beside the battery and the other in the same place but on the opposite side of the engine bay. On the drivers side, behind the battery it worked ok but on the passenger side it failed.

Let me know what you can so i can get this secured.

Thanks,

Major

I put my ballasts up front just outside the engine bay.

Now i'm wondering where I should put the ballasts for my high beam and fog light HID's.

Anyone got any ideas?

The pictures on that link arnt up anymore.

midnight runner: Do you mean yours are mounted in front of the radiator and beside the headlights?

Go to the local home depot or hardware store and get some 3M Mounting tape. It's a grey double sided tape with a red plastic cover. It is way stronger what comes with the kit. Once you clean the surface area of the ballast and use that tape.......you'll have a very very hard time getting it off.

I don't have pics, but I stuck the passenger side ballast under the power steering reservior using the double sided tape and a few zip ties.

The driver's side, i tucked in between the fender and the fuse box using the double sided tape.

The key is to make sure you clean the area before you use the tape.

Trying to include pictures of my install. If it works..... Both relays mounted to front support near headlights. Left side: removed battery & mounted ballast to fender wall with included double sided tape AND screws. Right side: removed air cleaner box and mounted ballast to fender in same fashion. Disregard circuit breaker & relay partially hidden by power steering res.; that's for another circuit.

This is a Xenon Depot kit (with Philips bulbs) and I recommend it. I've only had it a couple weeks but it seems to have QUALITY components.

If you want to place them on the fender walls you will need screws, I tried the best double sided tape I could find, however with weather, cold & hot the tape will eventually give. The ballast just weighs too much, plus if you go offroad the last thing you want is that big metal item banging around. Get some stainless steel screws and drill a small pilot hole and then cover the screw with some clear caulking to avoid causing rust & use double sided tape. Only then will it be really secured.
