My exact kit
1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner Hi/Lo Beam HID Conversion Kit
Bulb Size
9003 (BiXenon)

for $150
The reason I kind have went with a higher priced kit, this came with lifetime warranties on the relay and ballast. 3-year warranty on the bulbs and a lifetime support.

The packaging that it came at first shocked me a bit since there was no air bubbles, etc but nothing appeared to be damaged.

Remove the negative battery terminal and slightly loosen the positive terminal, I believe 10mm and 12mm sizes

Take out the factory bulbs, I used some pliers to take off the dust cap.

Make a hole in the dust caps to fit the bulb
Found it easy to flip the dustcap inside out so its easier to put back on

Connect the ballasts, these are the easy parts

Connect the relay and one bulb plug, once again not so bad

Connect positive and ground, try to make sure you ground correctly and attach one to the negative terminal as best you can. That was my 2nd issue that was resolved with the great customer service

Heres my intial setup, bulb outage (I called DiodeDynamics, took 3mins to get a new bulb, nice and easy) Although I called monday, it was shipped thursday. Thats my only complaint.

Then all neat and replaced bulb

Bulb on, I like how they warm up to a brighter light. Now I can see!

OP, while your headlights may be brighter for you, they will be like Hi beams in the eyes of on coming traffic. By putting those bulbs in a housing without a projector, the light just bounces off the reflective material of the housing.

Your best bet, not only for you, but other motorists, is to buy a set of projectors and shrouds on eBay and install those. Its not too expensive for a set, and it will be better for everyone.

please do yourself a favor, order these. youll be blinding all oncoming drivers and in turn, if they're like me, will turn on high beams to combat the visual assault you are giving them. these are very east to install, should take an average person with some skill an afternoon to install.

DDM tuning has a lifetime warranty and cost a 1/3 as much and they actually work when you get them.

Geesh! Rough crowd, LOL. But for real...on top of what everyone else has said, driving with hi beams or something that looks that way could land you a moving violation. Typically they are worse than speeding, FYI.

I have had 35watt HIDs in for almost a month now and have had no issues. I adjusted the the low beams to as low as they go. I live in the suburbs, drove 140 miles south (in IL), drove past and behind cops late at night and have never been hi-beamed, brake checked or stopped.

But I will run a test with some friends to see if or how much they impair other drivers oncoming and in front of me. I have a person standing in front with the lights on and they dont seem to blind the camera lens there.

Not to thread high jack but those are gorgeous and cheap. How hard to install? You have any DIY thread? Is it easy to resort back if you don't like them? Thanks. Ps how long have you had them without any problems?

I wanted to do HID retrofit projectors. I don't think just putting on HID bulbs are worth it for the following reasons:

1) Yes, they will be brighter, but the housing of the OEM headlights aren't designed to be used with HIDs.
2) Because it's not designed for HIDs, it will disburse it all over and blind people.
3) You're not getting the most out of your HIDs as well.
4) It's not going to be as bright as if you put in the projectors, by a lot.

The reason for the projector retrofit is that, it helps the light beam to be more controlled and essentially not blind people and significantly brighter than just putting HIDs bulbs in.

Just food for thought.

It's not a matter of being bright. It's scattered light in a reflector housing and focused in a projector. The bulb doesn't put out any more light being installed in a projector, but it is useful light that comes from it.

The brightness level doesn't change, what I meant was when you have proper housing all the light beam will be more focused into an area, hence "brighter." The collective light beams will give you the effect that it is brighter versus scattered light beams.
