HID Kit Problem - HELP !!!

Ok, so here's the issue. I bought a set of custom projector headlights from a fellow member with a HID kit. I installed the headlights along with the HID kit and now my Highbeams are constantly on when I turn the low beams on. :

I've been forced to removed the plug from the highbeams temporarily until I can find a solution. There are two ballasts, two blubs, 1 wire harness. There's one ground and one power connection. The wire harness plugs into each stock low beam connector (which I'm assuming is how each relay is switched to turn the HIDs on). Each lead to both headlights is fused with a 25A fuse. Please, someone give me some advice here.

It seems that you wired them correctly, unless you have a bad ground or maybe faulty relay i don't know exactly i'd have to take a look at my setup.........

Is it possible that the lower wattage on the low beams (35W for the HIDs) is forcing the vehicle to think there are no low beams present and thus defaulting to turning the high beams on?

The grounding point I used is the one to the right of the battery on the chasis of the truck itself. The power comes directly off the battery. What I did notice on the relay was that there is a resistor on the bottom of the relay. Any reason this would be here?

Based on what you said, try replacing the relay, it would only cost you a few dollars...

I had a similar experience and found out that my relay was corroded which was the reason why my foglights wasn't turning off when i switch off my headlights and the same thing for my headlights, it was always on even if my switch was off.

So yeah i'm 90% sure it would have something to do with the relay...

Hi,

Installing an HID kit on the low beams should not have any effect on the high beams as the truck uses 2 separate bulbs 1 for high and 1 for low.

I completely agree with your train of thought on the two separate bulbs. But in fact, this is my scenario. I'm going to pull the wire harness out tonight and check it again.

Problem solved. As it turns out, I swapped out both relays and the problem went away. Don't know why it would have affected the highbeams but it did. Thanks for everyone's input.
