HID options for a 2006 4 Runner

Any recommendations for a DIY HID kit for a 2006 4 Runner? I am looking for a true self leveling HID lamp (similar to the lamps on most Lexus cars and trucks) not some cheap knockoff that will barely light the road.

No DIY b/c most "kits" are self explanatory and relatively easy. Head to theretrofitsource.com and pick a kit. You have a 2006 which mean you have the factory projectors and they are adequate. However you complicate this exponentially by wanted "auto leveling" system. This has been discussed on hidplanet and pretty much deemed "too complicated".

The only thing I can think of is gutting a 2001+ RX300 headlights (those came with HIDs were autolevel) and making it fit a 4Runner's. I'm willing to bet it's much more complicated than that.

Lots of work and fabbing ahead of you if you decide to embark on this project.

KBcarstuff.com and I did the Xtreme Digital in 5k. Brighter than heck in my 07 with Projectors. H11 is the size. $154 and change currently, absolute requirement of mine to have these after coming from an Acura with projector HID's from factory.

Need to finally get my Fogs installed.

i actually modded a set of headlights with leveling motors for my 05 tacoma...lots of work and werent even auto level, they were leveled by a switch. i cant even imagine trying to get auto levels into these headlights.

I would suggest the retrofit source for any HID stuff. i personally would suggest one of their quick kits here...Retro-Quik: Toyota 4Runner (06-09)

I think it was a hella kit that came wire the required wires and motors and sensor to make it work.

it was actually 03+ celica motors, sienna switch, and i was just going to make my own wiring harnesses....

it was a cool and fun project, wish i would have finished it, but oh well. i've actually been thinking about doing this to my 05 possibly. We will see how much sag i get after installing the icon st 1 kit...

EDIT: check out HID planet, picked up the used motors for $20/pair or something like that IIRC.

EDIT: looks like it may not work? one would have to have a manual leveling system already installed.

I agree I had DDM tuning in my 2004 SR5 4runner and I just put them in my 2013 4runner. I love DDMtuning.com.

I go with the 35w 6000k HID kit. I like a little blue in my lights.
