HID OWNERS!! HID INSTALL...need ballast mounting ideas...

My HID's from Xenondept will be here tomorrow. I was wondering where you guys hid your ballasts to keep it from rain/dirt/etc?

for the headlights i just hid my driver side next to the battery and pass side. take your pick its all open in that area. the ballast 'should' be waterproof so i wouldnt worry that much about it. just as long as they are secure and dont move around.

i didnt take any of the install no, but i can if i remember tonight and post them. the fog light ballast may be harder to get a picture of but i can do the headlights.

For my fog lights the only place I could find to mount them was on the bottom on the plastic, the only negative thing is that they aren't waterproof. So when it rains they go off.. so when I get some extra money I'll be upgrading to waterproof ballast.

can you wrap them in a plastic baggy? a tarp or something?

i mounted my to the bumper support up as high as i could get them. the passenger side was a pain.

I'm not sure if you can wrap them...but the ones in my Lexus IS300 sits secure under the headlights. This is how the mounted the ballast stock. It is mounted to the underside of the headlight. I may just use some aluminum and bend a cover for the ballast.

my left ballast is right next to the fuse box pretty close to the battery, right ballast is bolted to my power steering fluid container

Fog Lights were a bit harder to picture but

Passenger Side (the metal box under the fog light housing)

Drive Side (you cant see it at all, but its tucked up to the right behind that wire harness

im glad i poked underneath there today. i did notice the passenger side ballast sealed harness shows signs of rust. im sure its not a big deal but i will keep an eye on it

Fantastic! I get mine today!!! Not sure if I needed to do a dyi. It seems to be pretty easy to figure out.
