HID problem!

I am having trouble with my HID's I took off my Canyon (9006 lows on canyon, to put in fog lamps on 4R, and 9005 highs to highs). They won't come on. Now I remember when I put them on the Canyon, I ended up calling DDM because they failed to come on then too. They told me to reverse two wires (of course I don't remember which two wires that is now!). It worked. I'm guessing I need to put it on my 4runner the way it's supposed to, since I hooked it up just like I had it on the canyon. Remembered this after I threw the halogens back in the 4R and eating dinner. Has anyone had any issues? Like this? Spread some light on the subject please!

Ok thanks! That's for the fog. I actually have tried those yet, I just tried the highs and they didn't work.

Did you try flipping the plug on the highs too?

edit - btw you know that HIDs aren't recommended for highs, right? HIDs aren't meant to be flashed and take time to warm up so most don't use them for highs unless it's in a bi-xenon system where the single bulb is both high and low beam.

i would do whats mentioned, just flip the power/ground and if it doesnt work make sure connections are good. Ballast might have gone out which is pretty common. Im dealing with one for me already after a week.
 
I doubt they are out. I literally just pulled them out of the canyon I had been driving up until I got the 4R yesterday.

About no HID's in the highs. I live in a rural area. Lots a deer. Hence the reason I got highs. Since the lows stay on with the highs flashing won't be a problem. I never had an issue with people flashing me in the Canyon.

I haven't flipped them, bc like I said I didn't remember about having already flipped them on the canyon until I was out to eat. I'm currently on baby duty until the wife gets home.
 
I wasn't talking about people flashing you. I was talking about when you're passing someone and have to dim the brights then turn em back on, i.e. when you flash the your lights.

I switched from 6000K to 5000K a few months ago and I'm pretty happy with the results. I think the less blue light is little brighter/more useful. I thought about 4300K but I was afraid it would be too yellow.

also, FWIW= for what it's worth.
 
Oh I gotcha. I got them in sorta... One of the 9006 lights is still stuck in the canyon. I've tried everything. Ended up getting a little jolt, so I gave up tonight that's why only one fog light is hid.

for a distance test this is at the driving range by my house. The trees are about 300-400 yards.

I also took into consideration about having to flash an oncoming car. With these ddm's I can flick them and for a split second the flash bright then warm up. So with that I am able to get my point across. I also let them cool off completely and timed how long it takes to warm up enough to get to 50% (although the hid highs over power the lows immediately) and it was under 2 seconds. So I think I'm fine there.

Good move. the lower the number on the scale the brighter th light. I run 43k on mine and always have and will. The yellow u refer too is more apparent in a 3k than 43k. It really isnt as bad ass u think.

While the frequency of having to do this is pretty low, it's really bad for the ballasts to fire and then turn off right away when flashing the beams. If you turn the highs on for a while, then have to turn them off briefly, then put them back on it's no big deal, but PnP HID ballasts hate being flashed quickly.

Gotcha. Honestly didn't know that before, so thanks for the head up. Again why I choose DDM (free replacement). I'll probably have more trouble with people flashing me once I get my lows in, which I ordered today. (29.99) btw.

I got the fogs completely switched tonight.

I did order the 5000k low kit and 5000k 9006 bulbs to replace the 6000k currently in the fogs to match the new lows.
