HID question

Hi,

I am ready to order HID kit for both LOW beam and FOG lights from DDMTuning but cant find clear answer from searching.

1. Is it adviseable and legal to install HID kit to my existing Stock Headlight & Fog light Housing? I have a 2007 4runner SR5. Not sure if the stock headlight housing is a projector housing.

2. How many members here installed HID kit on the stock headlight/fog light housing? Any issues?

I have them also in my 07 SR5 and have not had any issues. I also ordered from DDMTuning. Very easy to install. No problems at all.

I've actually found the stock cutoff from the projector headlights to be very good with HID's. Only advice I have is to get relay wiring harnesses for the HID kits

Same here. I was gonna mess with the squirrel finder but i think imma leave it alone.

Anyone have trouble getting the DDM bulbs to turn and lock in the housing? Mine are in and solid but I didn't get a 1/4 turn like the halogens were...

Is it worth paying the extra few bucks for the 55w? I may be having some issues with my current kit so I might have to replace it. Seems like DDM kits are reliable?

Not sure, I don't believe they do. I put a morimoto kit in mine, which came with the relays.

I had this problem with my 9006 headlights on my 03, I actually had to loosen the bulb holders to get them to fit, the issue is the HID bulbs are longer and are hitting the inside of the headlight housing. I did not have that problem with my 08 and the morimoto

Well havin hid kit are illegal, it was never legal, everyone has installed them including myself, i perfer a retrofit, alot better than the plug and play kit, more useful light now.

Also curious. I've heard the 35w should be only used in projector style housings such as the '06+ low beams and the 03-05 fog light housings.

Does anyone have the kit in the fog lights for the 03-05s? I want to make sure the kit would fit before I order.

For 2006+ models which have projector style housing, HIDs kits from DDM tuning will fit fine and come complete ready to plug n play. I have the 6000K 55k kits for my low beams and those are bright.

If you're going to buy cheap Chinese HID kits then buy them from a better source than DDM tuning. Ever since they started shipping their lights directly from china the quality has dropped (surprising right?) and sometimes it can take weeks to get your product.

My last 3 sets I have ordered from Clear View Digital for $40 and they shipped in 2 days from Ohio and in my truck within the week. The seller even through in several LED strips that I put in my interior lights.

Also in my experience if you're using retrofitted bulbs like HID's with 9006 bases then sometimes they just won't fit. I've had this problem on off road lights as well as other vehicle that came with halogens, projector or reflector the same.

I am running 9006 clear view bulbs in both my low and fog lights with no problems now.

Even drove through water deep enough for a bow wave to roll up onto the edge of the hood and didn't have a problem with the ballast.

Yes sir they are, sorta wish I had gone a little more yellow. I am not sure if it's because they're cheap HID's or the color temp but they're bright yellow instead of deep yellow if that makes sense.

that's correct too long for the fog proj's as well as low beam fixtures
bought them for the fogs, already have high output infrareds in low beams
but tried them in the low beams just for the heck of it after failing to fit the fogs
