HID Retrofit by SRQ Fabrications

This is a positive review for Matt with SRQ Fabrications. The stock halogen headlights on my 02 sport were horrendous. Went with [MENTION=102266]SRQ-Runner[/MENTION] for a custom built set of HID retrofits. Night and day difference.

When I purchased this 4Runner used with 240k on the clock, the driver headlight was cracked. The snowy weather in Washington really brought to my attention just how bad the stock halogen headlights are. I was looking at getting light bars thinking this might address the problem. I came across a few threads on HID retrofits. I ended up ordering two sets from two separate fabricators. An H1 set from hidretrofitkit and a D2S set from SRQ Fabrications. So why the two orders? I had ordered the H1 set because hidretrofitkit said The D2S and bigger FX-R projectors wouldn't work with these headlights. They told me mini H1's were my only option. SRQ didn't have a problem taking that order. Also given that custom jobs off the vehicle tend to have issues, I wanted to make sure I had a backup ready.

Specs:
-TYC headlights
-Morimoto D2S projectors
-Morimoto D2S 5k bulbs and 35w ballasts
-Gatling gun shrouds
-Rear LED switchbacks, (halos behind shrouds, switch to yellow LED with turn signal)

Positives:
-Clean cut off
-Wide projection
-Reasonable pricing

Negatives:
-Projectors were seated and directed too low within the housing. This could not be fixed with the stock adjustment screw/gear. I ended up shimming the bottom headlight mounts with a few washers and this fixed the problem.

Overall very happy. I give these guys a 9.5/10 - off due to the need for shims to get them into spec. If you folks need a set of genuine HID retrofits, I would not hesitate to contact Matt with SRQ Fabrications.

Those look AWESOME man! Were they difficult to install and what was the price?

Also, did you send him your headlights to retrofit or did he provide the entire kit including the lights.

They look really good man. Maybe with the "negative" comments on them being mounted too low, he can correct this on future units.

Every time I jump in the 4Runner the lights take me by surprise. The difference from the stock halogens is seriously ridiculous. Changed the whole driving experience. Best mod I've done thus far.

Likewise, don't take this the wrong way. Try price out a set of TYC headlights, morimoto projectors, bulbs, ballasts, LED switchbacks off TRS, (the retrofit source). I think most will find that Matt is charging peanuts for his time and fabrication. Most companies won't even consider doing this for under 1k.

Install was straight forward. Harness comes prelabeled and plugs into your stock plugs. Took about two and a half hours including time needed to aim. Without LED switchbacks probably less. Had a stereo guy solder the connections to the blinkers and parking lights.

Halos on with parking lights. DRL's were disabled - HID's would otherwise always be on.

Update at 6 months of daily driving. Performance is unchanged. Very happy with this set of great HID retrofits with the reliability to match. Will update again at 1 year.
