Hidden Alarm Carista or Techstream

Saw a short vid of a man activating installed but hidden alarm system on a toyota car. He used Techstream. I read somewhere that a man did the same thing on a 2019 4runner. Not sure how true.

Anyone done this or tried it using one or the other software mentioned above?

There are engine immobilizer diagnostics and functions in Techstream. So I guess, what do you mean by "hidden alarm"?

None mentioned above is available though Carista.

Do you own a 5th gen 4runner?

All 5th gen 4runners to my knowledge have factory alarms that are enabled by default. So I guess I am confused why you are asking. They come with dash active light, entry trip, hood trip, engine immobilizer, some years IIRC have glass sensor others do not.

At least a few folks around here have discovered aftermarket crap under their dashes that they claim to be "hidden" alarms installed prepurchase by the dealer.

Negative. It's just keyless entry unless you upgrade it.

Are you sure about that? I certainly didn't "upgrade" it. OR do you mean by upgrade, enable what is already there?

Both my 3rd gen and 5th gen had/have "security" dash lights.

Yes. The brochure only states keyless entry. The security light is an anti-theft light to show the vehicle is equipped with a passive anti-theft (chipped key). The upgrade was the RS3200 alarm but I guess it's no longer available. My Tacoma was the same way, just keyless. Drop the window, lock it with the key and open the door. Nothing will happen.

Interesting, rolldown the window, arm it, open the door and my horn and lights go off, same for the hood. Of course this was 7 years ago, I did have them "install" OEM remote start when I bought it but remember nothing about alarm. Will have to go look through my purchase agreement, if I can find it.

More than likely part of the upgrade. I'd get video of mine but I have the junk Karr alarm system.

If I do have an alarm ? What will I see if I open the door without unlocking the door first ? (Open the door while window is down from inside)

Blinking lights ? Honking sound ?

My ORP does it too. There’s no extra hardware needed since they got rid of the glass break sensor, doesn’t make much sense to disable it on some models when it’s pretty much assumed all cars in the last decade come with this feature.
