Hide or cover the TSS!

This thing bugs the hell out of me. Can someone Photoshop a section to make this blend right into and with the grill(pattern and radiator all lined up) ?
Hoping a vinyl overlay would camouflage it!
Open to other ideas also, thanks

If you cover it or impede it with anything it'll throw warnings. No one will notice it's there if you're worried about it hurting the likes you get on Instagram when you post up.

The company I drive for has these "safety" sensors on our new tractors. I find them quite distracting.
I've had my drivers license 43 years. I've never been in an accident where I was a fault. I have been in 2 this year in this new tractor with the bells and whistles (both again not my fault).
I was just recognized for driving 1,500,000 miles accident-free. All in tractors that didn't have the nanny systems.
I drive about 150,000 miles every year (OTR truck driver).
I've always felt that people would drive more responsibly if the airbag was replaced with a steel spike, yet still deploy under the same circumstances.

I like the Adam Carolla version of airbag theory. If one in 10 airbags was filled with moose semen, imagine how carefully people would drive.

As for the TSS. I can't tell what I'm looking at. What is reflecting in it? Don't they already make little garnishes and vinyl over ....... I googled it. Concrete in the reflection?

meh, warning lights would piss me off. probably not as much as something beeping at me to apply the brakes. Yank it off and pull the LED light behind the warning light? I don't know much about the TSS. I just wanted to ramble for a minute. Why the need to photoshop it? Fine I'll just do it.

The system in out tractors, Volvo VNL 760, does a couple of things, and it might be separate systems.
One is "lane departure". If it thinks I'm drifting out of my lane a "noise" comes out of the sound system on that side. It sounds like tires on a rumble strip (how ironic). Often, the line on the right disappears, an on ramp for example, it goes off.
The other system is my "proximity sensor". As it detects something in front of me, lets say a slower vehicle, things happen in the following order, sort of.
a) A light comes on around my tach. The closer I get more lights come on.
b) The tractor automatically slows to their speed (when using cruise control). This can be overridden by applying throttle.
c) a beeping sound commences, increasing as you get closer.
d) Brakes are automatically applied and a row of bright red LED lights is projected on the windshield.
The two accidents I was in in the tractor with this system installed were:
- Oncoming vehicle on 2-lane highway decided to pass. Would have hit my grill (speed limit 75 mph, so 150 mph impact), but I swerved enough that they bounced off the side of my tractor, surviving. Warning systems (and my airbag) were of no use.
- Four-lane highway, 65 mph. Rounded a curve creating a hill and a steer was standing in my lane. Guardrail on one side, fellow motorists on the other. Managed to moove (pun) enough to the side to just clip him. Another motorist had struck him before me. Steer was still standing. Safety systems (and airbag) were of no use.

I do hate the TSS on my 2020, but mainly because i want to do a Slimline Bumper with the bull bar but the bar would be right in the middle of the TSS and freak the system out.

Just about everything with the TSS can be turned off in the driver display screen but you get the lights on the dash showing that its disabled. I wonder if we can unplug it, replace the grill and maybe trick the system into thinking its still there by adding some resistors in the plug.

I'm certainly not an electronics guru, so maybe it doesn't work that way.

There will always be safety systems that are annoying in some instances but will save lives in others.

Remember the uproar about seatbelts in the late 60's? Or ABS in the late 70's/80's? Today, we think nothing about buckling up and we don't give ABS a second thought. Then, in the 90's, we had airbags and cut-off switches but today you hear nothing about them (with the exception of Takata) and countless number of lives have been saved by airbags.

Statistically, there are a few (very few) instances where it may be better to be ejected from your car following an accident (car explodes, gets hit by a train) but in all other cases a seat belt and airbag may save your life.

A seasoned driver like yourself may not need some of those driving aids but you are in the minority.

I'm not on instagram, just think they could have done a better job hiding it vs a bright shiny black spot on a matte finish grill that looks out of place.
Does plasi dip have a flat wrinkle finish?

What about a matte texture screen protector type thing like you'd put on a phone? Buy one big enough and trim. Would drastically cut down on reflection.

Not saying "I told you so..." but this is the primary reason I went with the 19 PRO instead of waiting on the 20.

Mercedes has used a similar "plate" in the grill of the S Class cars for more than a decade and even a large bug splat will cause the car to throw codes, lights and warnings. The system is great when it works, and annoying as hell when it doesnt, which is about every time it rains or gets dirty.

Just trying to remove the parts, (if Toyota's basic design is like Mercedes) simply will not work as the ECU/BCM is programmed to look for the sensors.
Fooling with it MAY be more complicated than just adding in line resistors because all of the sensors are not simply on/off. The dynamic braking is adaptive and not on or off.

You can try various ways to camouflage it or relocate, but you risk blocking it as well. The system is stupid sensitive to anything but OEM design.

Unless some one comes up with a reliable work around, this is going to make installing after market bumpers on the 20's difficult as best.

SSO makes their slimline with a bullbar for 2020s low enough to not impede the sensor.

If I ever buy a new one, I will go to whatever lengths it takes to remove all traces of that crap. Drives Me nuts on my Express to be rolling around a sharp on ramp and trying to accelerate for merging and the damn brakes come on and the throttle goes dead to ''keep me safe''! Stabilitrak can be turned off if you come to a stop and park....only to automatically engage at 30 mph again!

With the 2020 being the first year for all these nannies, I would expect a bit of growing pains while the bugs get worked out.

Did you look at 19's?

...Just curious why you picked the 20 TRDP if the TSS bugs you so much... When you're behind the steering wheel, you don't see it...

I did the same, but I limited to 250 miles. I happened to find mine 2 miles away.

I had a 2018 Tacoma which had all of the tss stuff, so I knew that I wanted a 19 4R over a 20.

The safety sense does not bother me much. What bothers me is I had a Cali led light bar on my 15 Tacoma years ago and loved it for night time. Now the problem is there led bar will still work but that black piece below is attached to the safety sense. So with the light bar in part of the center section is not going to shine out. I don’t see no work around that.
