Sorry, thing do not come across the way they are meant to be said on a message board. I think that you have to realize when you do things like put friggin 22 inch wheels and limo tint on your "whip", you are most definately going to be sterotyped/ profiled. It is just a fact of life.

In fact, let's just play a game. I am going to conclude that since he has limo tint and 22 inch wheels that he has no less than 2 12s in the back? Am I right? We have no way of knowing. But would you bet me $100 that he doesn't? Probably not. There you go, we both just stereotyped him. I'll throw another $50 on it that his music collection consists of mostly rap. Any takers? Doubtful.

Sorry for coming across rude, not meaning to me. Everybody is stereotyped/profiled. If you do that to your truck, you're going to get pulled over long before someone who doesn't. Just make sure you put up the funk. Ooops did it again.

dont get me wrong, i never go on rants, but jbach, you are being ignorant.

yes i have rims. but my tint is just 20%, i only have one 12 inch sub, and my music collection consists of mainly persian music (yes im a fob) hah. yes i have rap and every other genre, but i dont go blasting it because i dont want to attract any more attention than i already do.

its all about personal style. i understand the rims bring the profile.
but honestly everyone has their own taste.

i do agree with you with the whole profiling thing though.. and to be honest i think its pretty funny.

and for everyone else, thanks for the input. when it comes down to it, i got lucky, and i like how the lights look so i am not gonna take them out!

i have big wheel and the only song I listen to is "Susan Vega - Tom's Diner"... on repeat... very loud... with the bass turned all the way up...

it sucks but public stereotyping of the owner of a car due to the wheels they have on it is something you just have to accept is gonna happen, but in here I would like to think we could all just build off a common infatuation for the toyota 4runner and not stereotype one another like this...

probable cause for a stop

I am new to this forum. I appreciate all of the info that is posted here...

as a po po myself...lets just say that there are always three sides to story.
there are so many traffic laws that a motorist could be stopped for, it would make your head (and Dubs) spin. pile on top of that, the inspection laws...you get the picture.
I stop modified autos all the time...if they are safe to operate, being operated safely at the time of observation, and the operator has all the required documents present during the brief stop, they would be "allset", verbal warning.

Just roll courteously...if stopped, be respectful, keep your hands at ten and two on the wheel, if you have tinted windows, roll'em down. nighttime? put on your interior light...the last two are officer safety issues.

by the way google NY STATE POLICE SHOOTING...back in Jan. this year...trooper stops a cab...dude in back with AK-fo seven, shoots (through the back window) approx. 28 rounds of 7.62 at the trooper.
The good news was he later was neutralized by a marksman, no one else hurt.

be safe.

1) alright, black people and/ or rappers are not the only people that buy rims.
2)50 cent would not drive a 4runner.
3)no one just jumps out and start shooting things unless its like a chase.
4)dont diss limo tint...limo tint does not equal a gun, black person, or drug dealer, it just looks better than whatever you have.
5)i'm sorry your too scared to put it on your car
6)do people really shoot people at stop lights for no reason? and why would you shoot through your window?

Looks like the list stopped at three. Nice touch of sarcasm. :biggrin2:

hahahahahaha this one had me rolling! a perfect blend of cop-talk and forum chatter, with a little gangster worked in there...this is the best (and probably most relevant) post in this thread hands down

oh....and can we put this to rest now? let's outline...
-he got pulled over for HID
-probably profiled for wheels/tint, but that's life
-didn't get a ticket

thread closed? lol

Re: probable cause for a stop

If there are SO MANY things that you can pull people over for then why don't you. Why do you wait until it is a younger driver in a nice car. Why not pull over the old lady in the buick for her missing front license plate or not signaling? Why?, you only want to pull over the cars that might lead to something more. That is called profiling and if the US police continue to do this the angst and resistance to law inforcement from the mass public will continue to grow.

I see so many people with so many dangerous traffic violations(moving and non-moving) that never get stopped. Consistency is the ONLY way to go. Police that enforce the law when they see fit is wrong and unfair.

Move, sorry that you fell prey to the deception that law enforcement is trying to pull over our eyes. He pulled you over for what ever reason he could just to get a look at you and inside your ride.

Way to go Billy Badass;):

Alot of cops are great people that don't engage in preferential activity and do thier job unbiased. Some just give them a bad name.
If you do get pulled over always be respectful and make sure the cop knows you are not the type carrying drugs or guns. They are usually very nice.

Just one dude...

In all seriousness,my opinion(even though professional) doesn't hold any weight, cause we all know the value of opinions...My job like every other officer is to protect the public, uphold and enforce the laws of the city, town, and or state, respectively.
I know, I know...
If you feel you are being unfairly targeted, just ask, politely why you were stopped. I try to be as consistent and fair as humanly possible. I have been asked numerous times why I stopped someone, the first time may have caught me off-guard, but I had an answer, which included legal grounds for the stop.
Yes, it is the citizens right to be informed.
Profiling? You can't profile an operator you can't see, ie tinted glass.
My eye ball/radar detector sees vehicles the don't blend with traffic. Try to operate like everyone else or you can meet those that are charged with protecting you, even if you need to be protected from yourself.
Look as car guys/gals we have like minded interests, feel free to pm me if you need further explanation on vehicular etiquette.

In closing, there are some special cases out there.
I can't explain anyone's actions but my own.

hahaha Mr. Officer you are a funny man. i'm sorry for being a d i c k if anyone took it that way. but my only argument is that most people i know have two twelves, i had three then two and now i have one and i like it more than all of the ones i've had. anyways peace and love to all my 4running friends.

so sorry

that you got pulled over...
the cop was prob bored and had nothing else to do but mess with someone. Im glad you did not get ticketed. You prob would not have if your HIDs were not brighter than 6000k.

It is a FAD to customize cars/trucks. Who cares what race you are when the money is the same color to buy rims, stereo, etc. The shops dont care as long as the $$ is green.
Has anyone seen MTV Cribs before or Pimp My Ride?

My point..
