High angle cv boot for rebuild

I know this topic has been beat to death, with repair or replace. I scoured all local and non local dealerships looking for a romantic as I've seen others get them at a reasonable price. I've decided to go the rebuild route and purchased the oem boot kit with all necessary seals to complete the job. This morning I decided to search for red cv boots as cvj uses a red boot on there remains and stumbled upon this link https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/high-angle-inner-cv-boot-with-boot-slide-mod.382314/
I didn't see anyone on our site using these but I will defiantly be purchasing this boot when I rebuild my spare cv. Spare won't be done soon but I will keep this posted when I do. Will be doing the passenger side rebuild tomorrow and will post pictures. If you have any information on the following product I'd like to hear your opinion. Also if your in the area drop me a pm and stop by if you have nothing going on.

I rebuilt and rebooted my stock axles with SDHQ heavy duty cv boots and stainless clamps. Seem to be holding up pretty well after about 2 years so far. a few times off road and driven daily in the north east. CVJ is what I would get if I ever broke a stock cv.

Not necessarily boot related, but I have a spare OEM axle I'd like to repack/reboot but I'm told the inner joint may be bad.

Once I get the outer race off, what signs of damage should I look for on the tripod to determine if it's even salvageable?

Well after more searching on this red high angle boot I ran across a 3rd gen member that bought from ORS. Now I'm just debating if I wait it out and get this boot from ORS or just replace with the OEM boots I have

I'm not a bearing expert but I would look at the splines for wear or rounding I should say and also discoloration of the balls as they would be blue/black due to overheating. hoping someone with chime in with more expertise on the matter.

Completed the cv boot install, cleaned up the bearings, shaft. Replaced seals on inner hub and inner diff. Wasn't to bad and everything went back as supposed to, I'd say I spent 3-4 doing the job. That's start to finish bleeding the brakes and test drive.

Checked into getting the red OS boot Friday but passed on it as it was $75 bucks and I would have had to wait on it. Fine for me but not the wife.

CVJ will sell them to you for 40 for the pair just call. I have them now.
