High beam headlights

What's the brightest, longest lasting replacement bulb for high beam headlights? I never use my day time running lights or the automatic headlights.

brightest and longest lasting for the most part, would be any led you can fit in there.

Though its probably not street legal, you can also wire in a light bar that comes on with your high beams.

When I press my roof rack light bar switch, the light bar only comes on/off with high beams.... great for secluded VT back roads in the middle of the night.

Change that low beam to HID if you still can. LED in the projectors doesn't do very well.

I have the Sabres in the high beams and they are stupid bright!
 
I've got HIR bulbs in my brights and they are the beyond impressive. Had them for 3 years + and still going strong. Quick trim of a tab on the base to make them fit and $50 can't compare to anything else out there.

FYI I've ordered several hard to find items from this store over the years and only had perfect experiences, so I guess try to look over the dated sketchiness of the storefront....

I have been looking for a good solution for high beams as well. Confused as to which LED would be the best and which ones would not flicker if using DRL's.

I have had good luck with SilverStar Ultra's before - but may try out the Philips equivalent.

Have you upgraded your low beam lighting?

The beam an LED throws out of the projector is scattered looking and generally not much brighter than a halogen. You get the color though, but HID's will be brighter. There are some threads on this that can explain it better than I can.

LED is great in the high beams, you don't want HID's in the high beam because of warm up time. When you need brights its better to get them right away...lol

Make sure LED bulb works with DRL's, or do the DRL delete mod (super easy). Truck sends less voltage when DRL is engaged and causes LED bulb to flicker if not. Literally bend one connector pin under the hood and no more DRL's, you get marker lights only until headlights come on.

my LED lowbeams are not scattered at all. i have a pretty clean cut off line. i guess it all depends what kind of LED's you get and yea, HID's are def brighter. the reason i went with LED's is because i didnt have to cut out any holes on my dust cap. everything tucked inside the headlight housing with dust cap closing perfectly as normal.

That's good to know. All the threads I read it appeared that nobody had found an LED bulb that worked well in the projector. I was just passing along what I read when I researched before doing my lights, I'm not trying to preach gospel here. Maybe there have been developments since then..lol

Why aren't these more popular (or well known)? :confused:

They seem to be the cheapest and easiest upgrade, with little or no down side...
