High beam momentary OK, constant not

94 runner. The high beam momentary works fine but when I have them in the stay on position they dont work. Weird because if the flash beams works I dont see why they wont stay on?

Are these Stock or HID? I had that same problem with my old HID kit, turns out it was due to water contamination.

I dunno about HIDs, but every time I've seen this problem it's been in the combo switch on the column.

nope stock. Just got the truck couple months ago and JUST noticed it.

Hope I don't need a whole new switch. I just got through tearing through the dash installing a clean alarm system and really dont want to do it again.

kinda hard to explain but at the end of your headlight switch rod there is a little recess, like a hole in the end of the rod. in that hole a little (pretty much bb sized maybe a little smaller) steel ball sits, with a spring behind it (the small spring goes up in the headlight switch rod, followed by the ball). the spring puts tension on the ball against a small plate with a "v" groove in it. when you push the headlight switch forward, the ball falls into that v groove, and the spring keeps tension on it to keep it in the groove. I had the same exact problem you had, momentary working, but wouldnt go into the forward position, and it was because that little ball had somehow came out of the end of my headlight switch arm and was wedged againts the outside of my headlight switch arm, and that small plate with the groove in it. hope this helps

that was super confusing. just fallow the 4Crawler.com main page instruction you cant fail when you use 4crawler he wrote the book on 4runner repair
